Donald Reed Obituary (1940 - 2025) - Legacy Remembers
The dance community has lost another dancer. I don't think he ever came to dances on East side, but those of you who've gone to dances on West side may remember him. Elaine Reed let us know her husband Don passed away March 4th. "He so loved to dance at the Friday night dances. Everyone was so friendly and helpful to him. It was very much appreciated." https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/legacyremembers/donald-reed-obituary?id=57857061 Our condolences to Elaine and his family.

Fw: Moonlight Serenade
From: Jerry Mundell <jerrymundell45@...> Greetings February 19, 2025 I want to update you with Moonlight Serenade current events. We are the only formal big band Dinner Dance Club in the Southeast Phoenix area. This is our Silver Anniversary year with a dance this coming Saturday and March 22, 2025. Next year’s dance dates have been set. Be sure to get your reservations in, as there is a lot of interest and we may have to limit the membership. Contact information is in your membership booklet. Our volunteers have done a lot of thinking and work. They are Joy Kosterman (Membership). She has spent a great deal of time and effort with our membership registrations. Hand-in-hand, Jim McCown (Treasure), has handled the finances flawlessly. The food management and choices are overseen by Paulette Barnard. The food is great and no where else can you get the quality dinner at a dance like Paulette does. The orchestras are managed by Wayne Barker and he has done a great job. Kathy Litzenberger has made and overseen the beautiful décor we enjoy each dance. Mary Cartner (Secretary), has done a great job of reminding us what we said in our board meetings. Keith Ougden (Webmaster), has managed our web site for a long time. If you will go to our web site, address in the booklet, you will find that Keith does a great job. I want to thank our volunteers for all their hard work. In addition, we appreciate all our subscribing members. Without them, we cannot plan for the upcoming year’s dances. The dance dates for next season are November 15, 2025, January 17, 2026, February 28, 2026, March 21, 2026. We have just had our budget meeting. Costs have gone out of sight. With Jim’s help we have set next year’s membership price to $320. Of course, this is using a crystal ball for data. We do not know, in advance, how many member we are going to have. There are four main things to consider: orchestra, dinner, membership pricing, and participating volunteers. There are a few issues to attend to: Please note the dress code. It seems that some have not fully followed it. The food choices need to be made well in advance. Handling this is a hassle. Help Joy out by sending in your selections early. Because the kitchen receives a list of what entrées go to which tables, don’t play musical tables until after dinner is served. On a serious note, as many of you may have experienced with other clubs, the leadership aged out with no one stepping up, and has caused the demise of those clubs. We have the same issues. We need volunteers to keep our club alive. You can talk to any of us on the board. Please contact one of us to see what you can do. We are a private non-profit organization. Without the work necessary to make this club work we will not exist. We sincerely appreciate your response. Current position of need is Vice President. Additional areas of need are Promotions, Web Master, Historian, Photographer, Member at Large, and Décor Set Up Team. We look forward to many more dance seasons and fellowship.
