Fw: January 25, 2025 Dinner Dance
Happy New Year. In three weeks we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Moonlight Serenade’s inception as we dance to the music of Sonoran Swing on January 25, here in Leisure World’s Rec 2 ballroom. The theme will be a Silver Anniversary Celebration in Paris. We are expecting a good crowd with numerous guests. If you are thinking of inviting guests, it would be good if you plan well ahead so you can be assured of being seated with them. $100 per couple is the guest fee. The entrée selections for January 25, are prime rib or glazed salmon. Accompaniments are potatoes and broccoli, mixed greens salad w/balsamic dressing, rolls, and cheesecake dessert. Please advise me of your entrée choice. Some have already made their selections known. Also, if you have seatmate requests, let me know. Because the kitchen receives a list of what entrées go to which tables, don’t play musical tables until after dinner is served. If you invite guests, please be sure to remind them of our dress code. We tend to be rather stringent about that in our effort to keep this a special, unique event. I sincerely appreciate the prompt response I usually receive from the vast majority of our members. Our caterer appreciates as much lead time as possible to order his meat from his supplier. We try to accommodate him. Thanks. -- Moonlight Serenade Joy Kosterman, Membership Chair (360) 903-4930 1357 Leisure World, Mesa 85206 MoonlightserenadeLW@...

Revised dance schedule through Jan 2025
Here is a revised dance schedule through Jan 2025 and i was finally able to succeed in getting the www.dancemm.com website to contain the same information. That's where I'll post additions/corrections I'm told about.

Dances through January
I still haven't received all the information I'd like to have but have been asked about dances in 2025. Here is a preliminary cut of dances I know about, or am fairly confident about, through the end of January. Both the daily list and a one page which has the contact information for the venues. If you have information about dances, other than those on Thursday nights, or that are not open to the public, I'm willing to publicize them.

Tacha
The dance community lost another great dancer, Tacha, who was a Merrymaker for many years, but not recently. This is a picture of her posing with Teresa Huang. Our condolences to her husband, Wayne Barker. He will hold a Celebration of Life for her in June in Maine. She was a beautiful person and will be missed.

November 23 Moonlight Reservations
Our first dance is just 3 weeks away. Thank you to all who have responded with dinner choices and seat-mate requests. To all you members who have not made your dinner entrée selection from the Chicken Parmesan or Lasagna, please think about it and let me know. Also, for you members who do not plan to attend, that would also be good information also so I don’t keep thinking you might actually be coming and just haven’t responded. We have a number of new members, and for them I should mention that we do have name badges that say Moonlight Serenade and your name. They are the magnetic type. The cost is $8 per badge. This is just about what we pay for them, so it’s not a money maker for us and there is no pressure to have one. It’s nice, though, to identify members and get your memory jogged on a name you forgot. If you are interested, please let me know and bring your money to the dance where the badges will be if ordered. Again, our heartfelt thanks for all the enthusiasm we have seen and for your continued participation and support. Moonlight Serenade
Our first dance of the season is rapidly approaching. For those who have not renewed membership, you have until November 15 to do so and still get the member’s bargain price of four dances and dinners for $305. After that it will be $100 per dance per couple. And we are requesting payment in advance. One bad experience spurred us to institute this. Please make a note of the themes for the dances this year. Kathy Litzenberger and Linda Matheson are hard at work planning the décor for these events. November 23: Fall Fantasy; January 25: 25th Anniversary Celebration in Paris; February 22: Chinese New Year of the Snake; March 22: Aloha This is Moonlight Serenade’s 25th anniversary, so we hope to make it a grand experience again this season. It has come to our attention that there are a lot of dancers who were not aware of our dances. Please tell your fellow dancers about us so we can keep this club alive and well. The entrée choices for November are Lasagna or Chicken Parmesan. Please let me know your choices no later than November 15. I'll be sending out a reminder Thank you again for your continued support! Fw: ACJS event October 13
THE HOT BEIGNETS MAKES EVERYDAY LIKE MARDI GRAS DAY The Hot Beignets band was named after those delicious New Orleans pastries doused in powdered sugar at the Cafe Du Monde by the big river and Jackson Square. Their music is focused on a New Orleans-style approach to the hot jazz of the 1920s and 1930s. Many of the band's musicians attend the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp for Adults every June and then spend part of their summer in New Orleans playing at the clubs in the French Quarter. Locally, The Hot Beignets have recently performed at the Musical Instrument Museum, in Prescott at the Arts Center, in Marana, at senior communities across the Valley, weddings, birthdays, and celebrations of life. In January they will be playing a cabaret show for the Arizona Music Festival. They sing, play and have fun on the bandstand in a true Mardi Gras-style and look forward to performing for the Arizona Classic Jazz Society. Cheryl Thurston will be on piano. This event takes place on October 13, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., San Tan Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Phoenix-Chandler Golf Resort, One San Marcos Place, Chandler. Theater and table seating are available. You can sit while listening to great music or take advantage of the two dance floors. Cost is $15 per person. Pay at the door. Food and drink will be available for purchase in the hotel's bar. For more information, contact Helen Daley at 480-620-3941 or www.azclassicjazz.org The Hot Beignets is a great warmup for the Arizona Classic Jazz Festival which will take place October 31 - November 3 at the Crowne Plaza. The Arizona Classic Jazz Society and Festival will be closing down at the end of this year so this will be your last chance to attend any of their events.
