New BBC HLS global playlist

Not too surprisingly the BBC has again changed its radio streams, but I did suspect the one I posted here a nonth or so back mightn't be serviceable for long.

Earlier today those streams stopped playing.? Looking at the source I used previously and doing a refresh I found a new playlist downloadable at:

Here is a Dropbox link to the relevant global playlist for all the BBC radio streams:

In fact the only stream I've found not playing so far is the 5Live Sports Extra stream, but that could simply be there is nothing streaming or maybe nothing available due to rights issue.

(I am no expert and take no credit for this) playlist)

All this is anoying to say the least.? The Synapptic radio player lisno longer works, but I imagine Synapptic will do an update in their own time.

If anyone feels up to separating out this global playlist into National, regional and local radio, then be my guest.

Ray.

Very well done to be so quick off the blocks Ray.
I would add that for those trying to test this playlist on a PC the following works for me using VLC.
1. Open the Playlist in VLC.
2. Press down arrow once - your screenreader may announce volume change.
3. Now tab once to tab across into a Tree view of all the stations available in the Playlist.

I don't know what is happening visually and I don't think I previously had to press the down arrow first but this is working for me on VLC tonight.

Hi Ray and David

Thanks so much for the new list.

I tried to play the old streams in VLC last night and, when they wouldn't play, thought it was because I had updated VLC.

Pele and David,

First, I seem to have trouble updating VLC so if you've any tips on this they would be welcome.

I am not an avid sports listener but wonder if 5Live Sports extra is ever available on the internet.? Would not be surprised if it isn't.

I find the updates now bring in Radio1 Dance and Relax, not that I shall be listening to those.

I use NVDA even though I've a virtually unused JFW on my PC. Wondering if there is an add-on for working with VLC for NVDA but maybe I had better go in search of one.

I am using the latest BBC playlist on the VR3 and find its working very well, but just hope the update Matieu spoke of comes down soon and especailly where Bluetooth is concerned.? Currently using the VR3 with a wired speaker connection.

Finally,I would be interested to hear if anyone's using the new Sense player with an external keypad and whether it might be possible to use one to get directly to stations instead of cursoring around.

As a final, final comment, the Blindshell Classic 2 is not getting BBC streams now but I do hope the makers of it do get the BBC streams to work outside of its implementation of the BBC Sounds player.? Its quite a nice player for radio and podcasts though the only niggle I have is not being able to import playlists or not in a way that's obvious to me.

Thanks Mo for the below link to the NVDA VLC add-on.? Installed it and does make VLC a bit more navigable.

Apart from the rather chaotic ordering of this BBC list it is nice to be able to hear all the BBC streams.? It would take a bit of work to re-order/re-organise the streams.

Synapptic have already put out an update to bring back the BBC streams which does work as expected.? You do have to delete any favourites you may have though to make the radio player work again propperly.

On the VR3 there is a bit of pausing sometimes which I suspect might be down to buffering issues.
