With all the discussion about access to Audible content I thought it was worth
informing people about another accessible, non-DRM protected Audio book
Service.
As I previously reported, I already have accounts with Libro.FM and Audio Books
Guild, both of which provide access to downloading their Audio books in mp3
format. Audio Book Guild offer no plans or credits and only allow download in
mp3 for 14 days after purchase. They almost exclusively provide books in the
Fantasy, Sci Fi and Adult Erotica Genre. Libro have a wider catalogue as well as
providing a credit plan.
Today I took out a Free Trial Membership to a further Audio Book provider.
This is called Audio Book Now.
This does not use a credits scheme, but does offer discounts on books to
members. You only get the discounts if signed up as a member, and, As far as I
can tell, it is completely accessible with easy download of your purchases in
mp3 from your library. I downloaded my first book today without issue.
You can pay for both books and membership by PayPal to add some extra security.
Some books will be very cheap and some less so. On first impression it is
competitive with Audible prices.
With the $4.99 plan you will get rights to a free book from a selected list,
these books tend to be quite short, 50% off any book you purchase from the main
catalogue, with further discounts for further purchases.
