2025 Field Day 4 All! UP-Date
开云体育Hi Everyone!???? OK, Field Day may seem like a far far off thing on this snowy day. But it really is not. We REALLY need to have people come forward and tell us what they want to do. As soon as Possible! We have a LOT to organize so issues of the past do NOT happen with this multi-club effort. Spread this E-Mail to your clubs members! ???? All are welcome. As long as we organize it ahead of time. IT DOES MATTER! I mean we have the Room. numbers are not an issue. I mean every club has to abide by the same Rules. And if some clubs can have 18 stations... It needs to be planned for. People can't just show up at 1 PM on Saturday ,, set up,, and start Operating. That does not work!? If planned ahead of time, I have been at Field Days, where there was 6 yes SIX stations running on ONE BAND! At the same time! Yet there was no interference between any of them! If Planned ahead! Even at one of the YTARC FD's with the ahead of FD planning a FT-8 station and the CW station, was able to be on the same band at the same time, and even be as close as 5 Kc apart from each other and have no interference issues! But for this to work it MUST be planned for ahead of Field Day! I know this E-Mail may have a NON-Inviting tone to it. But that is NOT it's intention! This E-Mail is intended so everyone has the best possible Field Day experience possible! And to stop preventable issues from happening because of poor planning. Some stuff is super simple but has a HUGE effect of the days success! Yet can easily happen and make FD not fun for many! Something as simple as the Public Information Table that is manned with a Meet & Greet person. I have heard from both the general public and even other actual Hams, That show up, and felt actually like they are not welcome. Totally ignored. They wander around and not one person says anything to them. Hey this good Public Relations thing not only gives a good impression of the group, but HEY! We get a bunch of bonus points for Field Day for having it too! The "Not Welcome" I have heard in other ways also. Someone arrives, and is willing to join the effort, but gets the impression from those already there, that there is no room in the inn for them to set up and start making contacts. So after a hour or so they leave! This "Not Welcome" feeling or the being Ignored is in-excusable! It should never ever happen. Who wants to help set up a Public Information Table, and keep an eye on it for when Visitors arrive they can go and "Meet & Greet" them? Stations.... We need to know who is wanting to set up a station! YES all are welcome! For Sure! BUT, we need to know who you are and details on what you want to do as far as modes, powers, antennas, etc. These details MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! On if FD is a success or a total bummer making people not want to do it and even go home! Yes all are welcome, BUT it must be planned! In the past we have had a station that was invited, but we never heard back if they were coming or not to just show up and set up and start operating! Problem was there was no logic on where he should set up. he just did. And in doing so, he ended up causing terrible interference to three other already there and operating stations, soo bad that two stations just gave up and started chatting with other people on the site. and one packed up and went home! So if you want to set up a station we need to know who you are as soon as possible! So we can figure out the best possible layout location of each station to minimize the interference possibilities. Bonus Points! Man these are free and some have little to no work involved! but can add GIANT points to the final FD Score! Like something as simple as that Public information table, That alone is equivalent of a Phone station making 100 Contacts! Solar Powered Contacts? make only 5 powered by say solar and again 100 Phone contacts equivalent Points! Know some "Official" type of person?? We can get 200 Phone contacts equivalent points for one of these folk visiting the FD site! ?Site Visitation by an elected governmental official: One (1) 100-point bonus may be claimed if your Field Day site is visited by an elected government official as the result of an invitation issued by your group. Site Visitation by a representative of an agency: One (1) 100-point bonus may be claimed if your Field Day site is visited by a representative of an agency served by ARES in your local community (American Red Cross, Salvation Army, local Emergency Management, law enforcement, etc.) as the result of an invitation issued by your group. Should be easy points!!! GOTA Station. This one is HUGE this year, they changed how the rules are and points are given, this GOTA station can easily out scrore two other regular stations!? Who wants to be the GOTA Station! Anyway, go to the site? ? And take the link to the Driftless Fied day. Learn all about the FD site and sign up for the groups.io e mail system, we have 18 in there right now. Pretty soon that groups.io e mail system will be the only way we all will communicate with eachother organizing this adventure! Then go to the "positions" link and see if there are any bonus things you would like to provide to the effort. Of course stations we NEED to know who wants to set up a station. ALSO!!! very Important,OPERATORS!!!!! we always need anyone that wants to get on the air! Even if you don't have? station to set up WE NEED YOU! to help get on the air and make contacts! Few if any can sit and make contacts non-stop for the full 24 hours and will need to take breaks. But was want the stations to keep running and keep making contacts! So anyone come on out we need you to help keep the stations running! But let us know if you are one of these people! So NOW go to the web pages. tell us if you want to set up a station tell us if you can help operate the stations ?tell us if you can do whatever bonus pooints things Hams are "Communicators" Lets COMMUNICATE and tell us what you want or can do for this first time ever effort! There is a LOT to cover and decide on BEFORE FIELD DAY!!! Joe WB9SBD |
