drats map problem

Hello all. I'm new to the group, thanks for the add.

I have run into an issue with the map part of the drats program. I was running version 3.3 on Windows 7 and the map portion crashed. This setup had been running without a hitch for several months. When the map program crashed it took the main program down also. I deleted the install and did a fresh installation of 3.3. After the reinstall the map program would lock up the main program and then both would crash.

I deleted the second install of 3.3, rebooted and installed 3.2 drats. I set the lat and long downloaded the map files, all looked normal. When I open the map program it opens and seems to work normal except the map never displays. Stations are there in the list, window looks and functions operate, just no map.

I have read and researched across the internet and have not found a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

I have not seen or heard of this failure. Rather than rolling back the version, I suggest moving up the the latest version:

?If you encounter this error again, click on 'Details' in the error dialog and copy the text and post it here so we may see the nature of the error.
I hope this was helpful.

Well I followed the link you provided, installed the new version after removing 3.2 and rebooting. Main program opened and looked good. I opened the map downloader, set my lat and long downloaded the files, then rebooted. Opened the main program, seemed to be fine at that point. Then open the map portion and crash, the screen filled up with error boxes and locked it all up.. I have attached a copy of the debug file. Thanks for the help.

I looked at the debug log and found the following:
The system cannot find the path specified: 'C:\\Users\\S\\Desktop\\D-RATS\\MAPS

D-RATS is looking for the map tiles in the above directory. Go to Preferences>Paths to set the correct location. You may only need to remove the extra backslash characters.

Will do, thanks.

Patrick,?

I was still having problems on the maps. Then I read another reply you sent about another problem. You told the fellow how to remove the config file from the system. I searched and removed it, rebootedand ran a fresh install and now the maps are working.?

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm glad to hear you have it working. If you are interested in the mapping feature, try making a map overlay with static points. You can add markers for points of interest using icons similar to the ones found on APRS maps. Look in a folder called USA Map Overlays in the files section of this group for more information. There you will find map overlays contributed by members and instructions on how to make your own.
Good luck and 73?
