D-rats not keying ID-51A

Since most of the RT Systems cables are pretty much proprietary, I would try a basic cable and see what happens. That is about the only thing you haven't tried.

Right, none of the RT system cables I have can not be used to control radios, only to program them.

Jim: ?

I have tried the RT System cable on my ID 5100 and DRats with no success. ?It sounds like you have done something like having a radio working with DRats with some cable. Then leaving the settings the same just switched to an RT Systems cable and found it did not work. ?Is that correct? ?For Icom radios to work DRats is the ICOM cable the only one that will work? ?Are there other cables you know will work?

Thanks in advance for your help and 73,

I would suggest double checking all of your Radio settings to be sure they are correct per the D-RATS suggested settings. What version of D-RATS are you running?

I use the RT Systems USB-RTS05 (orange cable) for all of my Icom radios. D-RATS works fine on all of them; ID-5100, ID-51a Plus, ID-880H and both of my IC-2820's. I have not found anything that I cannot do with this "proprietary" cable vs any other, either Icom or homebrew. The ID-51 DATA port outer diameter is smaller than standard, so make sure the cable end is all the way in. Homebrew cables may not fit, and need to have the outer housing trimmed slightly.

Note: The program only looks to see if the COM Port is connected, not the radio itself, so a bad connection at the radio will give you a No TX situation.

For the 5100, the data cable is easy to make, same cable used on the 2820 and others, diagram is out there. Usually rt systems cables are only for programming with rt software.
