do net connections currently work?

Hello, brand new to d-rats (can't believe I didn't use this a decade ago).? ??

I noticed ratflector.com and many other domains are no longer.

Anyone know of a public ratflector I can get on to just try things out before I break out my d-star radios?

Every one I try I get a connection refused error.? ?Let me know, thanks!

Nick, the DRATS signal is part of the transmission that includes voice.

Any DSTAR (and really any analog repeater) will pass the DSTAR signal. The radio must transmit the CTCSS tone if it’s not a DSTAR repeater. And it won’t sound nice to an analog user.

We’re using DRATS at a common RF mode here in Mid GA. RF ONLY, of the Mid GA Data network.

There are many internet based ratflectors available. Try this one based in Spokane:
d-rats.wa7dre.org port 9000.

There is a Ratflector List in the database section of this group. (it may not be current)

FWIW, I'm having the same issue.

Thanks for the question, Brian

d-rats.wa7dre.org port 9000 worked, thank you.

I'm volunteering a endurance running event (50k miles, 8000ft elevation climb, in the heat) and d-rats seems like a great solution.? I've used APRS, FlDIGI, JS8CALL, others.? ?This one is simple enough and I like that any tech can fire up a D-Star radio and create a local network with chat, files, etc. without too much configuration.? We shall see.

I am very interested in you experience as I am working the IRONMAN 2022 TRIATH this sunday. We will be experimenting with D-STAR as the primary mode. D-RATS is the logical follow on. September is the annual 3 day 90 mile canoe race where we will also be experimenting. Hope all works well for you! Very excited for your thoughts. I know in the past we used the mapping portion of D-RATS heavily to plot the courses and allow aid stations to map issues, accidents and injuries. Total situational awareness for all not just Net Control. No more incessecent " WHAT'S YOUR LOCATION"

Nick and David,

?

You might also wish to reach out to Mark, WA4KFZ. He is a major organizer and “network manager” for the Marine Corps Marathon in DC. They use several layers of voice and data.

?

Our local ACS group uses D-RATS direct and through our local D-Star repeater. Works well.

I noticed that my map is blank. Do you have to import a custom map?

Thanks very much for the info!!!

Idea; let's do a zoom call around D-Rats for emcom and trade some ideas.

If you all do a Zoom call, I'd love to be included.? ?To answer the original question "do net connections currently work?" ... The answer is YES, at least in verion daily-04172014.? I've not tried any version later than that.? ?This version can make TCP connections to DVAR Hot Spot (the very first D-Star Hot Spot software).? From there DVAR Hot Spot can turn a d-rats message into a DV stream and A) transmit it over the air via the connected (analog) hot spot radio, or B) send it to a remote repeater or reflector as if D-RATS had been connected to a real D-Star radio.??

I've also built a D-Rats/D-Star to Discord bridge that I'm guessing you all would love to see. :-)??

This is WB3ILX / Ron ,
Don’t forget drats and FLdigi also work together.

Ron,
. .? Could you give a quick explanation?? As, is there a TCP interconnectivity, or, they can run at the same time independent of each other?? Thnx.

Drats connects to FLdigi so the information in drats uses any of the digital modes you select for your transmission.

Ron / WB3ILX,
In drats you create a radio with the information to connect to the transmitter. ?The nice part about this process is that it gives you the long range HF or VHF connectivity over radio RF if the internet goes down x
