Has the yum repository for D-RATS gone away? I need to install it on CentOS.

Another ham and I have used it on ten meters. ?We are about 5 or 6 miles apart. ?Didn't want to tie up the local repeater, and signal was marginal on 440 for a number of reasons.?

Has anyone thought about using the Drats chat function on HF. This could mean a small signal low dutycyle communication in a burst mode that shouldn't bother anyone if you limited the text.

It sounds as if you are sending data, but the first part is missing.

First, disable power saving in your radio.

Then go to preferences in D-RATS.

Under Transfers, enable "Remote File Transfers".

Set Warmup Length to 16.

Set Warmup Timeout to 0.

This will add a delay after the transmitter comes on and before the data is sent.

You need the cable with the 2.5mm connector that plugs into the side of the radio. Also be sure to set the radio to Low Speed Data Mode. This includes turning off the GPS function and setting DV DATA TX to AUTO. The port speeds in the radio and D-RATS settings must match. The IC-80 defaults to 4800.

?? I believe you can only use the speaker jack for cloning or programming.
The data jack on the side can be used for both programming and low-speed
data.?? Unfortunately, the jacks are two different sizes.? If I am wrong,
someone please correct me.

Can the USB interface which plugs into the top of the IC-80 be used as the computer to radio link on the IC-80 or is the serial cable the only method?

Not able to get transmit data through the USB interface which plugs into the top of the IC-80.

I am running the latest version and have some experience with D-RATS. ?I was hoping that the Winlink connection on MAC OSX worked because we are looking for a solution that works across Windows, Linux, and MAC. ?So far I have not found one. ?D-RATS has a lot of potential. ?

D-RATS is not under active development at this time. If you are running version 0.3.3, a later version can be downloaded from?

If you have any questions about the features or operation of D-RATS, I would be happy to answer them for you. Please visit the files section of this group and download "Operating with D-RATS" and the addendum containing the latest updates. D-RATS is in use by many EMCOMM groups and may be the solution you are looking for.

Getting Problems Fixed

Is it safe to assume that any problems we find in D-RATS should be considered features as there is no one fixing them? ?Do we have all the source so someone could fix them if they had the enthusiasm and wherewithal?

Ron, did you have any luck with this problem? ?I tried moving the libexec stuff to the Mac from the source but it gets an exception when it tries to run. ?
