Re: GMail SMTP no longer works, where to go?

GMail has changed its authentication mechanism (quite some time ago -- years) but it is possible to use an application?key/password to authenticate against GMail in these cases, but the software has to support it.

I have a notification?script I wrote in Python which sends emails via GMail, but to get it to work, I had to obtain a GMail application password and use it in my script to make it work.

Working D-Star HotSpot + IC9700 + D-Rats

Hi:
I have setup and test with success D-Rats (Network) port.? ?However would like to know hot to use D-Rats with serial type. Have the IC9700 connected to D-Rats (have the ICOM cable).? I don't have local D-Star repeater that why I setup a HotSpot.? I use the HotSpot (Pi-Star) to periodic monitoring of 30C 01C reflectors. Please note I not use much the Hot Spot and not proficient with D-Star.??

I guess the question is trivial, but How I use D-Rats to send messages through the radio (COM 5) (and Hot Spot)?? Or I can just link to any reflector and the messages goes through the reflector (using radio serial type at D-Rats) without any problem? Could I also send D-Rat message (including WinLink) using internet ratflector .com? through Radio and HotSPot -- not the computer network)

Thanks again!

Re: Ratflector list (was: Drats IC 9700)

Steve,

? They are available at ?-- or if you prefer, just go to my bio on QRZ, and click on the first hyperlink.

? Right now, there are around 200 monthly nets...mostly D-Star, quite a few Echolink, and a few D-Rats nets for good measure. Note that on some days, several nets meet at the same time...so you'll have to choose which one(s) you want to check-in to. In short, there are too many nets, and too little time.

OK, what's this? Looks like some kind of phone bridge to something. I am obviously missing something that looks interesting.?

Hi:
Was able to send with success W2LK message but not received reply.? To pickup the reply to the test message used WinLink.? ?Any pointer will be appreciated.? Internet setup no RF.?

Re: Winlink e-mail from my mobile through my base station?

Skip WInLink and set up a D-Rats mail server at your repeater. Does not HAVE to be at the repeater, but that is ideal. This gives you DStar (D-Rats) RF to internet email on a basic level. Basic meaning short messages, attachments seem to be flaky. Forms work. We set this up. Not hard at all. Set up a different POP/SMTP mail account for your mail server and it forwards mail via internet. It does look a little weird to the recipient (your callsign followed by the pop account it used). You can reply to this also (the recipient can). Goes back to the pop account in D-Rats, then D-Rats looks for your active callsign and sends the reply by RF to you....or waits until you come back active in D-Rats.?

Re: Winlink e-mail from my mobile through my base station?

I think they are talking about Telnet WinLink. There is no bridge from DStar to WinLink over RF I know of. WinLink uses somewhat unique encoding and protocols over RF.?

Re: Winlink e-mail from my mobile through my base station?

well, it really DOES require the public internet. That's why MARS booted it. Yes, there is an "RF Only" mode, but if you've ever tried it you'll know why nobody will EVER use it, especially in an emergency. It's basically a semi-automatic ARES NTS system. But even then, somebody needs the public internet at some point. THAT is the entire point of WinLink...internet email on the receiving end. Practically, if the RMS you are hitting does not have internet access (local VHF node or more remote HF node) you're message is going nowhere fast.?

You can accomplish basically the same function as WinLink using D-Rats by setting up a mail server (another D-Rats instance) at a repeater site. The only thing it doesn't do (at least we can't make it work) is reliably send mail attachments. They seem to go through but you can't open them. Station-Station email attachments are fine.?

Re: Winlink e-mail from my mobile through my base station?

I'm pretty familiar with both D-Rats and WinLink. How do you get D-Rats to send WinLink over the air? I don't believe you can. As far as I know, D-Rats is telnet WinLink only. Which is, basically, just regular internet email.

Re: RS-MS1IA and D-Rats

I have found text chat from MS1A (or i) is readable in the D-Rats chat window. However, chat in D-Rats does not decode on the app (Android, at least). So it's one-way, Android to D-rats in chat only.?
