Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile

开云体育

If you're handy with a soldering iron, these FTDI USB to RS-232 "wire end" cables work well:

The cable is a USB plug / converter at one end and "bare wires" at the other end. You will need to solder on a connector that fits your rig, in most cases a 2.5mm stereo plug (that's where the soldering iron come in). Connect the Orange wire to the tip, the yellow wire to the middle sleeve and the black wire to the base. You don't need to connect the other wires.

Pick your 2.5mm plug carefully, most of the ICOM rigs require a pretty narrow backshell on the plug. I've been known to leave the plug off and just cover the connections with heat shrink tubing.

The cables are about $23 from Mouser Electronics. They work well, I've made several.

The cable from RT systems that John suggested also works well. It may cost a little more, but no soldering would be required.

I could not get my OPC-478U to do that. ?If you do let me know how you did I that.

John thanks for the suggestion. Having a built in converter is the way to go. However I am a little confused. If this cable will work for programming and data transfer... Will my OPC-478U do the same? Work for both applications?

John,

I am pretty sure that ICOM sells a USB version of the OPC-1529. ?It isn't cheap. I built my cable and just use a USB to serial adapter. ?The cable is easy to build and there are schematics all over the web. ?I would say connect to my D-RATS and download the schematics and the file describing the setup for the ID-880. ?However because of the weather I have everything shut down. ?

Sorry I couldn't be more help.?

Tnx

Connecting D-RATS Repeater to ircDDBGateway

Hi,

May I ask if anyone here has been successful connecting D-RATS Repeater to a ircDDBGateway port?

I try to connect it to 127.0.0.1:20011. This port is connected to DCS010R. I can see the traffic on xreflector.net, but the traffic from the R module doesn't seem to be heard back via the Repeater.

Any ideas?

Re: D-RATS via DCS?

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply!

Use D-RATS Repeater to connect to my ircDDBGateway hotspot. I can see the hotspot module on the DCS server when I transmitt, but the traffic coming from the DCS is not coming to my D-RATS Repeater.

The traffic from the radio port is working 100%.

Any ideas?

I have updated the Ratflector list. I have deleted inactive connections and added some newly found ones. It can be found in the Database section of the group.

Of course this is placing a bet on the Linux side being compatible

Hey, Ron.

I would try and fetch the source, extract and move the binary to the
proper location.

wget &&
tar -zxvf d-rats-0.3.3.tar.gz &&
mv d-rats-0.3.3/libexec/lzhuf /Applications/d-rats-daily-02232012.app/Contents/Resources/libexec/

In theory this is all one command you can run from the terminal. You
might have permission issues with the last line and need to do only that
one as root... I don't really know OSX.

Hope it helps.

I'm not a gambler, myself but, if it doesn't work we'll see what else we can come up with.
