Re: D-RATS and fldigi
maxwellld@sbcglobal.net
I had the same experience as Dan with the header but the text from my quick message did go. There was a lot of QSB on the 20 meter band tonight and received a lot of CQCQCQ. Maybe can adjust that out. Will have to play with it. I see what you mean about the delay. Quite long. But, did decode a conversation. Great find and I agree with Dan it has potential. Thanks for the find.

Re: D-RATS and fldigi
开云体育Patrick, I haven’t tried this with radios yet, but was able to make D-RATS send data to FLDIGI on TCP/7322.?? I’m getting a lot of D-RATS header data with each transmission.? For example, I typed “test3” in D-RATS chat and got the following on FLDIGI. ? [SOB]"=@=@=@=>7-=@=!~~~~~~~!~~~~~~~========[EOB][SOB]"=@=@== @*r=@=W4DTO~~~CQCQCQ~~Test3[EOB] ? Did you have a similar experience??? ? Looks like this has a ton of potential if we could get that header removed.? ? Dan W4DTO ? From:
d-rats_group@... [mailto:d-rats_group@...] ? ? Now, that is cool! ?I will be testing it tonight over VHF. ? ? ? ? Sent from Samsung Mobile
I discovered a way to get D-RATS and fldigi to exchange data. First start fldigi. Then start D-RATS. In D-RATS, go to preferences>radio and Add a connection. Name it fldigi and select Network as the type. Set the host address to 127.0.0.1, port 7322. Click the Add button. In the list of connections, mark the Sniff and Raw text boxes. Click Save. Assuming fldigi is already set up on your computer, select the fldigi connection in the port selection box just to the left of the typing line in D-RATS. Send a Quick message, QST or type some text. Whatever you send will go to fldigi and be transmitted on your HF radio. You can watch the text in the outgoing window in fldigi. Go to your HF radio and tune in any signal. Any decoded text will go to the D-RATS chat window and appear with the [fldigi] port marker. The text will be black on a yellow background. This indicates that it is not formatted D-RATS text and just "Raw Text". There will be a short delay between the time you receive the text and when it shows up in the D-RATS window. This was just a quick hack and needs further testing. Remember to start fldigi first, as D-RATS needs to see the network connection when it starts up. The next step is to get two stations running D-RATS on HF to communicate. (You can clear the Raw text box if communicating with another D-RATS station). I hope anyone running D-RATS and fldigi on the same computer can give it a try and post their results to the group. (I am running fldigi version 3.21.81) Thanks for reading, Patrick (N3TSZ)

Re: D-Rats & GPS connection

connection ?
?
Yes. You can configure your 2820 to send it's GPS data out it's serial port connection. Connect your radio to the serial port on your computer. Then go into D-RATS preferences>GPS and check the box for external GPS receiver and set the COM port. ?
The one thing you should know is that the serial port on the radio will
only do one thing at a time. You have your choice of GPS OR?external low speed data (D-RATS) but not
both.
?
If you are planning on using D-RATS in the mobile, I suggest you get one of
those USB GPS receivers and plug it into an unused USB port on your computer.
That way you can use D-RATS on the radio and get location data into your
computer for D-RATS to use.
?
Thanks for joining the group and good luck with D-RATS

Re: Mac 0.3.3 version
Hi Duff,
This is a link to the latest daily build for MAC OS: I believe you must install X windows on your computer if it is not already present. (I'm not a MAC expert). Also run the runtime file included in the .zip file. It installs files needed for Python to run. Good luck and 73, Patrick (N3TSZ) |

Re: Drats on reflector
开云体育I think two situations might be acceptable.? If a repeater is equipped with two modules (VHF/UHF), linking one to D during an event (Skywarn, parade, etc) might be acceptable, but not long term.? For a single module repeater, if a time was designated for a D-RATS Net, that might be acceptable.? Remember, you can always link a DVAP to REF030D. ? John WB4QDX ? From: d-rats_group@...
