Re: D-Rats Mail Attachment
After having tried again and again, I am going to assume that email in D-Rats cannot actually send an attachment of any size and of any file type. Fails constantly. This is an enormous fail for emcomm, in my opinion. It may have worked at one time, but it's not working now. You may get what appears to be some kind of attachment in the email, but it says "do not open me" and can't be opened by anything I have found, although sometimes it appears to be there. Corrupted somehow in transfer.?

Also have the event log tab working. Forgot to mention, I got the d-rats repeater to work for on both Python 2 and Python 3 again. Now working on getting the Map display converted. That is taking a lot of learning as lots has changed. Currently locally I have it displaying the map for an instance and then tearing it down, so still have not figured it out. Regards, -John

thanks for your efforts and work!
I tested it on my raspberry pi with python2: chat and logging and all rest seems working,
only i noticed that after few minutes of in-activity it gets silently "disconnected" from the ratflector (i am quite sure i wasn't having this idling issue in few minutes with the latest py2 code)
under python3 it complaints it isn't finding gtk module . maybe i am missing it, not got time to investigate

I was starting to do this effort myself. But then I looked in the mirror and asked myself if I was really that crazy. In particular when I got to the Glade files. Oh no, I have to learn how to use a GUI editor?

The error message you are getting indicates that the program either cannot find the ¡°D-Rats Shared¡± folder or it does not exist.??That shared file is necessary and the program will crash if it is not where it expects it to be.??Create a folder in the path listed in the error message and the program should start properly the next time you run it.

Patrick showed me how to run a program called APRX behind the StTammany Ratflector that picks up the GPS-A beacons from the stations on its port and sends the position report to APRS.??That is how you are getting on the map.??The other??that does it is the K3PRA repeater in Pennsylvania.??The Symbol for GPS-A is picked up from the GPS Config under Preferences.??If you have it set there to "/>¡± the ratflector reports you are in a car.??If it has ¡°/-¡° it reports that you are in a house.??If you hit the DPRS button, it will show you a whole list of icons to choose from.??There are 2 sets depending if you use a forward slash (/) or a backslash (\) in the first block.??The second block is the character that tells the program which icon to use.??When you mentioned it, I looked and my station that I use for chatting and doing the nets was also sending out the car until I went in and changed it.
Here is the line that APRX sent to the APRS system for you this morning:

Now here is the line it sends out for my regular client station:

Notice at the end of each one it has /A.??Just before the slash yours has a ), but my two have a - and a #.??The minus sign (-) is the DPRS symbol for House, and the (#) is the DPRS symbol for the Green Star with D for digital on it. The ) character tells it to send the Handicapped symbol.??If you leave it at the default, you would have a > character there designating the Red Car.??Just now, at 11:21 AM, APRS.FI is showing you with the Handicapped Symbol again.??I can¡¯t tell you what you were sending before because as I told you earlier, the Pi running the ratflector had its display corrupted and I had to go in, rebuild the OS image and rebuild the ratflector all over again yesterday and last night,??Hopefully it is back to running like it should this morning.

? The problem isn't getting the graphic on D-Rats in their MAPS -- that works fine. The problem is exporting the data to aprs.fi, and showing my station with the rest of the callsigns around the Little Rock area. I was using the GPS-A setting every 5 minutes on the ratflector I normally hang out on (in this case, yours, the St. Tammany one). I don't have an external GPS, and don't have an APRS app on my smartphone (I used to, but that app was discontinued). And, I'm not sure how to get the data to aprs.fi from here.

I am seeing similar on one of my stations and this is what I found.? In Preferences under the GPS Config go to the line that says GPS-A Symbol.? Under Table you should have a "/".? In the Symbol block, if you have the default ">" you will transmit a vehicle.? To transmit as a House replace it with "-" the minus sign.? If you place a "#" there you would get the Green Star with D in the center, which I use to designate the Ratflector.? See if that helps.
