Re: Weather QST Problem

开云体育

I would add to that request that you please select carefully what ratflector you target. People in Alabama and Washington State, don’t care what the weather is in eastern PA. When you do a general QST it is propagated all over the world, creating the same QSO disruption hazard at all ratflectors. Unfortunately, QST takes precedence over reflector specific filters, so the ability to ignore the QST announcements is limited when monitoring more than one ratflector in separate tabs, as well as the clutter that occurs in the main window.

Thanks Don and Ron,

I tried just http no go. I agree not to use a short timer. I usually just send it once during our weekly net. I guess the main problem I'm having is the time isn't counting down for some reason.

Re: D_RATS on Pi keep alive

I remember reading a suggestion to send out a GPS-A position report about every 10 to 20 minutes to keep the station from being timed out. There is a setting on the D-Rats client side, not the ratflector, that purges station names from the active list at 60 minute intervals if no activity is seen coming from the station. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it certainly won’t hurt to do it. I run a station client along with the StTammany ratflector as a Mail drop and file server and I sometimes see that it drops out. This could be caused by electrical glitches from storm activity, or due to induced errors like a station dropping offline during a file transfer. Often the repeater stays running but the client side shuts down. I try to check the status of the station at least once or twice a day. This station is running on a Pi-3b.

I bet it's their upstream router having the NAT session time out.? Try to either increase the timeout settings on your router or increase the D-rats ping interval on the D-rats client.

Have you looked at the log on the RAT to see what's going on?

Your Ignore RegEx line should look like this:
\[QST]|CQCQCQ\:

Re: \QST\ entry in IgnoreRegEx causes errors

Something else to consider along this thread, there are times when QSTs are necessary and useful, but you just don't want the [QST] and beacon messages clogging up the main chat window.? That is where the filters come in handy.? For example, I post Tropical Weather Updates and Hurricane Reports as QST file dumps when we have storms of concern to the Continental US.? This information is pulled directly from the National Weather Service.? To a station in an affected area that may not have access to this information, being able to receive information about a storm intensifying or changing direction could be important.? Having the program ignore the [QST] transmissions completely could result in you missing something important.? The CQCQCQ messages are different as the transmission is caused by corrupted information or the transmitting station not having the GPS information on their radio still running while they are running D-Rats through the radio.? There is no interest in seeing corrupted data.? On another issue, I have never used the backslashes on the command lines and the program still changes messages with my callsign to the proper color and seems to affect the CQCQCQ messages by fading them out.

Re: D-RATS 0.3.9 on Linux Mint 20 - Python Dependency Issue

Uhhhh...no.? While I really appreciate your effort to navigate this minefield, this is such a kludge to install it this way that I think I'll wait until the developer (team) switches to Python3.? I like d-rats...and intend to use it for our net here in Sun City Center, but not in this state.? I'll just keep an old laptop around with an older version of d-rats on ubuntu/mint until d-rats gets a new engine.??

Thanks, though...

To all users of the Philadelphia Digital Radio Association (K3PDR) Ratflector. I recently discovered that K3PDR-1 was not forwarding mail via the internet. I have since updated the Gmail account associated with K3PDR-1 an is now operating properly. K3PDR-1 can not connect to a WL2K telnet server. However you may address mail to callsign@...,?as it is an internet based mail server.

It's worth mentioning that Ubuntu "Eoan Ermine" is Ubuntu 19.10 but this discussion is about D-rats on Mint 20 aka Ubuntu 20.04 which is NEWER than Ubuntu 19.10.

Ps.? Mixing repo versions (newer or older) is fraught with risk.? If things break your system, this should be the first place to look but repairs may be impossible.

Re: \QST\ entry in IgnoreRegEx causes errors

The best way to keep QSTs from filling up the main Chat window is to create a filter with [QST] as the filter string. I place CQCQCQ in the ignore line in Prefferences and also create a second filter with the same string. The string \QST\ will never show up and would be useless since the program uses brackets and not back slashes at the beginning of every [QST] message.

Re: \QST\ entry in IgnoreRegEx causes errors

Thank you Patrick for clearing that up. Denis, look at the pdf file I sent you. The syntax is correct.
