Re: Is anyone using d-rats with agwpe?

John,

I've used that with two UV-5R's & Direwolf. It's been quite a few years now though. I would Imagine at least 1 of the machines was a raspberry pi & the other end was windows (I only had the 1 windows box at the time).?

Re: Anyone know what Request Mail Check is supposed to do?

That may very well be true. There are several features in D-RATS that Dan started working on, but never followed through to the end. This may be another one.

Speaking of which, the AGWPE connection in the D-RATS repeater never worked. I would to connect is to a soundcard TNC, like Direwolf. I hope you can look into that, when you get a chance (it does work on the D-RATS client).

Thanks,

Once that bug is removed, for me so far, the remote machine refuses the

Hi John,
Here is the use case scenario:
Your D-RATS station does not does not access to the internet (deployed in the field or mobile, using a radio).
You select a station from the list and right-click and select Request Mail Check.
IF the station you select has an Internet connection AND has your E-mail settings saved under E-mail Accounts, will query your E-mail account. I do not know if the E-mail will be downloaded and transferred to the requesting station, or just notified if you have messages waiting.

Re: Connecting multiple D-STAR repeaters or D-RATS systems together.

Hi,

These one of these groups might be more appropriate to find an answer:

/search?q=D-Star+gateway&p=SubsCount%2C%2CD-Star%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C0

I'm sure you know it's not as simple as your post is showing otherwise you would not be asking.

1)? Satellite link, VIASAT, Hughes Net, INMARSAT, Iridium or maybe Starlink, all expensive and still Internet.

2)? Lease line, probably the best option as a RF solution can cause Intermod interference? Still expensive.

3)? Use a band that your repeaters do not operate on..

4). WiFi or other line of sight method.

5)? Yes on 1.2 GHz but not data modules.? You can not add a 1.2 GHz data module to a D-Star repeater.? You'll need a 1.2 GHz? transceiver.

Sorry I do not have a specific answer.? Hope? the above helps.

Re: Anyone know what Request Mail Check is supposed to do?

I have checked in the patch to my fork to stop it from crashing if anyone can figure out how to test that feature.

I currently am looking at re-writing the menu_handler for message folders as is crashing for python3 GTK-3 when I right click on a message folder to bring it up.

Connecting multiple D-STAR repeaters or D-RATS systems together.

Eric H. Christensen

I'm trying to put this together in my head in a way that will make sense to me.

If I have multiple D-STAR repeater sites, what are my options for linking users on all of these sites together using D-RATS without using the Internet? Would I be using individual D-RATS servers at each site and then linking them together or would I be trying to provide a connection from each site back to a single D-RATS server?

I can see using TCP/IP over a microwave link but is there a way to use D-STAR itself? Can I use, say the 1.2GHz data modules, to link between the sites?

Re: d-rats

Alan,

? As Paul, K9PTF, and Lee, WB4QOJ, have noted, I started a NEW list of D-Rats, Echolink, and D-Star Nets...originally in PDF format, but then thanks to Gary, VA3GDZ, converted them to Excel Spreadsheets in US Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific Time. UTC Times are also noted in the spreadsheets, but they are one hour later when the much of the United States is on Standard Time, which is from the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March (whether that gets changed in the future remains to be seen).

? The reason I started this is that info on nets at dstarinfo.com was, and apparently still is, woefully out of date. I tried numerous times to get updates on my nets, but to no avail, so I finally gave up. The ONLY link I note at dstarinfo.com is to get registered on the gateway...that information is covered in the Mode Overview file...a PDF file that tells how to set up the ThumbDV with the BlueDV program, plus D-Rats. With the D-Rats program, I do NOT include setup with email or WInlink 2000 -- I use my separate Gmail account and the Winlink Express program, respectively, for both of these, as they are much easier to work with. That file also has a list of around 10 ratflectors that I know of that are online, and that is in a separate file. If you see my D-Rats station up, just connect to WX4QZ, and go to the files area. Also in that file is a list to several other mode URLs, where you can find a list of nets, such as DMR, CQ100, Allstar, HamSphere, Christian Related for those who want them, etc.

? Please take note that I'm only responsible for the nets in the spreadsheets, not anywhere else. The only thing I ask about the spreadsheets, which folks are welcome to share the info, is that I get credit for the data, and Gary, VA3GDZ, gets credit for the spreadsheets. Apparently, there are some hams who are taking the info, making their own files, and claiming it as their own, without giving me credit. In effect, that's plagiarism and theft...and they will answer for it on Judgment Day. I am happy to give credit where it is due, but I also depend on folks to let me know if any of that net information in the Excel Spreadsheet files has changed. Note that last minute cancellations can occur with nets due to weather and other issues.

Daryl, WX4QZ

Re: Anyone know what Request Mail Check is supposed to do?

John,

I believe it was supposed to be a way to check a store and forward email server. Check with Glen Strecker as I believe he has used the feature most recently. I am not at home at the moment so can¡¯t check my notes.

My guess is that you need to have a server in your heard online list and that server must hold emails for you. This would be an over the air forwarding system as it is meaningless on the inet.

When sending an email through Winlink using D-Rats you must have //WL2K as the first thing in the subject line.??It is not enough to have their callsign@....??The //WL2K lets the Winlink system differentiate the message from spam emails.??Without it, the message will not be forwarded.
