Re: Neep help setting up a ratflector...please!!!
Whatever computer you run the D-rats repeater software on, make sure you have "trust local host" and "accept incoming connections" check marked and the proper port (9000 obviously) filled in.
This is what tripped me up and what isn't documented.? Do not enter a call sign. Do not add a port. Just click the "on" button at the bottom left. It wont look like it's doing anything. I was able to connect to my ratflector from any computer on my network that the computer running the ratflector was also connected to but not from outside at first. To get on from an outside line you need your external IP address.? To find it simply type "what's my IP" in a google search. The IP that comes up is what other people need to know to connect to your ratflector through port 9000. They need to configure the Drats software to connect to your ratflector. They need to do the following. Start drats communications tool software. Click file-preferences-radio, then click the add button. Next to the name they can enter the ?name of you ratflector or anything really. The type is "network" Host address is and must be typed exactly net:your ip address here:9000 Example: net:168.192.1.1:9000 No password. You can add one later. ___________________________________________________________________________ To connect within your own network, instead of typing net:ip:9000, you can just type "localhost" in that spot. Without the quotes. Hope that helps. Keith kc2oon |

Domain name issues
OK...well I have got the D-Rat repeater application running on the local host and from another machine, I can communicate with the repeater via the internet ip address. However, when I attempt to use my domain name with DDNS service, it will not connect. If I ping the domain name, it replies with the DDNS ip address. If I issue an NSLOOKUP command, it reflects the DDNS ip address that is associated with the domain name. All appears the it should be working but, the D-Rats app cannot connect via the domain name. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you, Doug WB4CDH |

Neep help setting up a ratflector...please!!!
Hello, I have attempted to follow the online instructions but I guess I'm missing something. I have a domain registered to use, I have my IP addresses and I have my port 9000 opened for both TCP and UDP in the computer where the application will run and through the modem. It just will not connect and run. I am sure I am making a mistake but the online information isn't very detailed. Can anyone please help me? Thanks, Doug WB4CDH |

Re: Accessing Ratflector over RF
开云体育The reflectors that have usage listed as data are just focused on data. Just as a voice reflector, there’s no guarantee that anyone will be there. Often the concept is that they are reserved for data in the event of an emergency or test. These are often linked to repeaters and communicate over RF. But since while voice and data can coexist, they don’t coexist well. Hence a location for RF devices to gather when they need to. ? Remember, that if you connect a ratflector to either a repeater or a reflector, you will usually start generating RF. And that RF may be on the other side of the country or world. ? Ed WA4YIH ? Re: Accessing Ratflector over RF
They are reflectors set up on line for D-RATS traffic. D-RATS traffic is all data and no voice created with software called D-RATS.?
Are you familiar with D-RATS software? The software can run on a laptop, PC and even Raspberry Pi computer. If you aren't familiar with the software it's a lot to go over.? I can give you my email if your interested in learning more. Keith kc2oon |

Re: Accessing Ratflector over RF
You need to have a D-STAR radio connected to your Raspberry ratflector via USB to serial cable.
You can then configure the Raspberry ratflector to use the radio and the internet as input/output for the ratflector.? You then can access the ratflector via RF, as an example, with another D-STAR radio connected to a laptop at a remote location. The ratflector doesn't see the RF connection as anything different from the internet connection. All the same data is sent over RF the exact same way it's sent over the internet link. You use the D-RATS software exactly the same. That is how I have our ratflector set up for our county ARES/Skywarn private ratflector. Keith kc2oon |

Accessing Ratflector over RF
Hey, I think I'm being dumb probably and missing something really obvious, but how would one access Ratflector's, email facilities, etc over RF? For instance, while effectively useless and adding an extra step in for no reason other than experimentation, if I have my private hotspot running how can I access a communal D-RATS servers and email?? Is it actually as simple as I need to be setting up the DRATS repeater/gateway element on the hotspot Pi? Is there no way to connect to a reflector the same way you do for voice? Sorry for the questions.. Thanks 73 Dave |

Ed, with every enhancement, you make the page better.? Thanks. ?
BTW, on the present page you have provided info on how to enter a reflector but there is no button to get into the enter mode. ?
Also, many of us distinguish between a reflector on D-Star and a RATflector on D-RATS.
And I am glad to see our good friends in El Paso and their RATflector listed.
