Port forwarding is not needed for the D-rats client application.
Port forwarding is only used for making a local D-Rats repeater application visible on the public internet. In which case you must make sure that the host computer is very well secured.
Unless you are an expert at computer networking, (in which you would not be asking here for this type of help), it is not a good idea to have any port forwarding active, as it allows criminals to probe parts of your network, so when some instructions say to use port forwarding, be very very suspicious.
