Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

Hi Adam
?
R18 is indeed 1k, but I measure 0v at the A2 pin with the LPF installed, and 1.6v with the LPF removed.
?
I'm not sure what to look for next.

Hi Rich,

If R18 is actually 1k and it is actually connected to 5V, I suspect your 2nd Nano has a dead A2 pin already.

Thanks,

Adam

Thanks Bernd and Adam for your help with this.

The photo is helpful, thank you. I belive my LPF is correct and have attached a photo.
?
Some measurements:
?
With the LPF off the mainboard, I measure 1kΩ across it's 12v - GND pins.
?
I desoldered R18 and tested it out of circuit, it measures 1kΩ.
?
Whilst poking around I shorted something and blew the voltage regulator on the the Nano. Lucky I bought a second Nano!
?
Should the A2 pin on the Nano be 2.5v with the 40 LFP installed? I'm reading zero volts at the A2 pin.
?
I measure 1kΩ between the A2 pin and ground when the LPF is in circuit, 4MΩ when it's not.
?
I measure 0v at the A2 pin with the LPF installed, and 1.6v with the LPF removed.

Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

Hello Rich
Adam is with me, I'll add a picture of the
finished LPF for 40m
Important is the resistor at the right position (C7) no coil
L1 and no C3.
The black stuff is Plasti Dip so that the coils?
not wobble

Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

Thanks - that helps... I see that R18 should be 1k in series with the 1k on the LFP. Will investigate.

Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

I have about 5v at R18

Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

If so, you can measure about 2.5V at R18.

Thanks,
Adam

Confirmed. 1k resistor on this one. LPF board is populated according to this schema: /g/crkits/files/ADX-S/V2/Schematic_ADX-S%20V2%20and%20BAND%20FILTER_2024-07-13.pdf

Re: ADX-S V2 build - please help!

I have about 11.2v AC between 12v and GND pins on the LPF.

Hi Rich,

Please confirm you are looking at the V2 manual and the LPF module has a resistor on it.

Thanks,

Hello
?
I'm new to amateur radio and this is my first radio build.
?
I have assembled the main board and the 40m LPF, but all 5 LEDs remain lit with the LPF board installed.
?
What have I tried?
?
At first I thought it might be the microcontroller board;
?? a) so I tried the 3v3 and 5v tests at R1 and U2(Vin) respectively, all good.
?? b) I reflashed the microcontroller with the hex file (it flashed fine but didn't fix the issue)
?? c) I bought a new arduino nano, flashed that - still all LEDs are on.
?
I don't have a spectrum analyser, only a DSO, a multimeter that measures Hz and an ATU-100. Connecting the ADX-S V2 to the ATU and a dummy load, I see no power measured by the ATU.
?
Holding down SW1 and SW2 does not make the TX LED flash.
?
Two LEDs are lit on the Nano (pwr and L)
Ther BFO LED is not lit.
?
Advice on where to probe, what to look for would be most appreciated. I have a DSO and multimeter.

Adam,

Thanks for the pixie diagram with the changes for 20 meters.? With these values, the AADE filter analysis program shows the filter notch around 35 MHz instead of at the second harmonic (28 MHz).? This is based on an inductor value of .43 uH (12 turns on a 37-6 core).? In contrast, the AADE filter program shows the filter notch for the 7 MHz pixie right around 14 MHz where it should be.? Did you take some measurements of the actual hamronic suppression for the 14 MHz pixie and if so, what were the results?? Thanks again.

Re: 7010 crystals shortage

Pixie2023 7025&7030 is the choice. If you cannot order directly on my web store, please let me know offline.

Thanks,

Adam

Guys,

I will consume all the 7010 crystals very soon, and it is your choice to replace with 7020 or 7025 crystals. That said, the Pixie2023 will become 7020&7030 or 7025&7030 instead of 7010&7030. Please vote.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Gary,

Please follow this diagram to build the 20m Pixie kit. The black barrell-shaped inductor is 22uH.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi, Adam

I bought a 20M Pixie from you a little while?ago, and I am finally getting around to building it.

Most components are the same as the 40M version.? However, I'm not sure about the inductors.

INDUCTORS

Please verify my assumptions:

I received a black barrell-shaped inductor:? I measured it as 8.9 microHenries.? I think it is to replace the 22 microHenry inductor (L3 on the schematic)

I received an 84.7 microHenry inductor.? I think for the 20M Pixie, it replaces the 100 mcroHenry inductor (L2 on the schematic)

I also received a toroid and wire, which I assume I will use to create a 0.56 microHenry inductor.? I think it replaces the 1.0 microHenry inductor (L1 on the schematic).? I assume if I can find a 0.56 microHenry inductor in my junkbox I could use that instead?

CAPACITORS

Finally, KC9ON on his web-site suggested for 20m I should "replace C7 in the oscillator section to 92 pF"? However, the only C7 I see on the Pixie 2023 schematic is a 120 pF capacitor in the output section.

KC9ON also says you suggested I change the C2 100pF capacitor to a 47 pF capacitor on input to filter.? Again, C2 on my Pixie 2023 schematic is a 10 mF electrolytic in the audio section.? Which capacitor(s) on the CB am I to replace?? (I also plan to use a 2N2222 for my PA.)

I am OK with replacing the 470 pF capacitors with the 220 pF capacitors you sent me.

If you give me a hint on what capacitors I should put where I will appreciate it.

Thanks very much.? I am enjoying your radios you make.
