Re: D4D receive light only activates during transmit
Steve,? I saw your good soldering at a? glance.? But usually this view deceived us. Check everything again. >but once transmit is complete both lights go
out. Strange. I recommend check out voltages during this status. Then you will find out reason. Relay or something around ? Finding reason is part of hobby and fun ! Generally kit need effort to complete is worth more than soon completed. You paid same price and you can play longer than the others. Otherwise there are many completed product is the world. Re: D4D receive light only activates during transmit
开云体育Anyone have any ideas? Thinking I need to start by testing the transistors and work out from there. On Sep 7, 2019, at 8:35 AM, steve via Groups.Io <steve@...> wrote:

D4D receive light only activates during transmit
Hi,
I've built the 20m version of the D4D kit and when I connect it both lights come on then both lights go off after 1 second.? Plugging into a computer I get received signals that are properly decoded and the green light WILL come on along with the amber light when transmitting (VOX activated) but once transmit is complete both lights go out. Any ideas what I should check? Thanks, Steve |
Re: Operation under emergency conditions
开云体育Hi LU7DID,If you really need to work at 5V, it is recommended to replace 78L05 by a LDO type 5V regulator. For the TX amplifier, the output can be as low as 100-200mW if you power with 5V. You can test it. Thanks, Adam

Operation under emergency conditions
Adam,
?
In a bare bones emergency situation to which extend the D4D works with a high capacity 5V pack as it's sole power supply? (assume connectors worked out properly).
?
?Does the D4D work with less performance/power? ?Works very degraded? ?Doesn't work at all?
?
Thanks for your answer.?

Re: D4D
开云体育My solution is a dual output (12 and 5V) Li-Ion battery pack similar size of D4D. Let me know if you guys are interested as it needs special shipping. The freight is higher.

Re: D4D
开云体育I just picked up a 12 volt lithium ion battery pack from Amazon it is rated at 12 volt 11000 mAh. The size is just a little bit bigger then the D4D.The battery comes with charger connecting cables. Output is 12 9 and USB ports. Cost for this capacity was 64.95 they also have various sizes. The unit is sold by Talent Cell. Tom K0amd On Sep 3, 2019, at 4:21 PM, Charles Jessee <cbjesseeNH@...> wrote:

开云体育Thanks for sharing your experience. Considering the small size and low power consumption, field operations with raspberry pi is recommended. Autumn is coming and let’s go outside!

Re: Just back from Japan Ham Fair
Hello Junichi-san, I am very sorry in forget the pioneer demonstration of Mr. Kinoshita on Japan Ham Fair 2013 and I remember cjearly now his efforts to introduce for the very first time the AlexLoop in Japan. By the way, in 2014 Kogure-san from MLA 48 have made a AlexLoop presentation either in Japan Ham Show. Please send in private to my e-mail if possible more information about Mr. Kinochita participation in order to express my thanks. PY1AHD ALEX Alexandre Grimberg py1ahd@... P.S. I can make a try with the local Japan dealer to find out for a better price on your new AlexLoop ? ? ?

I also have just finished the kit did a set up with dummy load and put it on the air.
Receiving signals from all over have only made a few contacts with it but Antenna is located in the attic and had a learning curve with the software. Great little kit would recommend it to anyone that enjoys kit building and wants to try FT8. |
Re: FT8 1500/3000
Bret,
Congratulations on the success of building the kit. The strong signal you see on the spectrum is called Intermodulation Distortion (IMD). It is mainly caused by over driving the mixer stage. For the simplicity, let's stay with it but you can improve it by changing C5 from 104 to 105. Thanks, Adam |
