Use a VM ;-) (Sorry couldn't resist.)

That has been one of the most annoying things for me when I'm not in a VM and, ironically, it seems to be worst on high-performance PCs.

Wait seriously? How does a VM help?

Heh. I'm just being a smart-alec - but...

My experience using a VTPro in a VM (on a Mac of course) has been far better than all but one of the PCs I've used - including smoking-fast PCs - including custom-built, very fine-tuned PCs that ran everything else just fine.

VTPro taxes something on some systems and on the VMs I've used, that doesn't happen. I'm not sure why it's better, and it's certainly not perfect, but those 2-5 second waits for something to happen in VTPro are less than one second at the most (and even that frustrates me.) I imagine the fine-tuned, often generic drivers that a VM uses internally has something to do with this, not to mention all of the crap that is installed on every HP, Dell, Sony, ... notebooks.

I'd love someone to try this on VMWare's PC VM software - Just out of curiosity. I would be instructive to see if VTPro would run faster in a VM on the same machine that runs VTPro slowly outside the VM.

On a PC? I'm very curious (not that I'll switch back.)

Use VMWare or someone who has a financial interest in fine-tuning their VM stuff.

Not sure what type of computer you are using nor what version of VTPRO but its been a long time since I have had that problem. If you are using Windows 7 64 bit, have you checked the "Disable visual themes" box? You get to it by right clicking the VTPRO icon and selecting properties. I got that from Answer ID 4946. I also run VTPRO as an administrator but not sure if that is absolutely necessary. Likewise, I remember that checking the compatibility modes caused performance issue.

Lastly, I recall reading somewhere on Crestron's website that some HP software can cause performance problems. I believe it was some type of printer software.

Might try disabling your antivirus software and see if that is what is slowing things down.

Good luck,
Steve

vtpro 4.4.12

Thanks Steve,

I am running Win7 32 bit and VTPro 4.4.12. Not ready to move to 5 yet, and no core3 for me :(

I was not aware of the disable visual themes issue. I have just changed this and will let the group know if this setting improves performance. I am not using compatibility mode, nor running as admin.

I performed a machine reboot shortly after posting originally, and found huge gains in performance, but those gains were quickly deteriorated and I am now back to nearly where I was to begin with.

I am working with a lot of Mobile G files, and I wonder if this has something to do with it. The files are much larger, disk size wise, than most other panels of similar content, and take much longer to open/save. I have never had this issue before the last few days of working heavily with the Mobile G files.

Have you tried deleting unused image resources? Last time I had this type of problem it was the synapse check box although I can't find that anymore.
