Just wondering what everyone else uses?
I use git and have my own server running GitLab.? -- Mike Jobson Director Control Designs Software Ltd AV Software Solutions Email: ?mike@... DDI: ?+44 (0) 1753 668931 Mobile: ?+44 (0) 7875 020894 Control Designs Software Ltd??| ?Company?Registration No. 07507642 |
We use SVN with a Redmine front end. Source version control is step 1.? Project source management is where it really starts to come together, hence the Redmine interface that allows project organization, issue tracking and assignment and all kinds of other features. On Thu, Sep 18, 2014 at 11:47 AM, Mike Jobson mike@... Yeah I use it mostly for applying comments and versioning than any merge requirements. I do a lot of AMX too which it works really well with.?

The GitLab front end is nice. Will look into Redmine though.? Everyone else just seems to use Dropbox these days and never updating version numbers. The amount of complete projects out there on a v0.x number I see is staggering! On Thursday, 18 September 2014, Neil Dorin neildorin@... [Crestron] <Crestron@...> wrote:

We use SVN via Collabnet. It was free and easy to install and has been easy to maintain. ?TortoiseSVN is our frontend of choice. On Thu, Sep 18, 2014 at 11:21 AM, Mike Jobson mike@... [Crestron] <Crestron@...> wrote:

I should also note that we use TortoiseSVN as the client.? Redmine is just a web based front end for project tracking. On Thu, Sep 18, 2014 at 12:24 PM, Nathan Hesson nhesson@... [Crestron] <Crestron@...> wrote:

We use SVN and functionally it works great for keeping track of the current and previous versions. We also use tortoise as the front end.? We use ?as the backend. ?It's not free but it's not that expensive. ? You can just run your own server for free as well but you need to have someone that really knows what they are doing. ?We don't and I wouldn't want to have someone spending time on it given what the hosted version costs. But CAUTION - ? Whatever you use, make you you still keep your own backups. ? ?We used to use and considered it a "backup". ? Then it all vanished in a puff of smoke when they got hacked -? I use Redmine as well as ProjectLocker with Trac.?
I prefer Redmine to Trac. ?The pricing on ProjectLocker is good, but I will eventually be moving to something that uses Redmine. I dont want to maintain my own server so will use a hosted solution. Anyone want to nominate their Redmine hosting provider for consideration? |
