Topics in Home Automation - New Article Published in Residential Tech Today Magazine
My latest blog post, "Smart Water Management Solutions from Phyn¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site. ?You can find the full article here:? ? For those interested in my earlier posts, you can find my blog here: I hope you find the information useful. Thanks Jay Basen |
i have been researching these & a friend had already done research so i'll share what he found
he picked this over the Phyn the main reason is, & i didn't see you mention anything about this, is that the Streamlabs needs the internet to learn, but at the end of the learning period, loads the data back into the unit which can then operate w/o access to the internet if anything happens, it will try to send an alert via the net, which you won't receive or respond to, and it will take action after the timeout period the Phyn needs access to the net all the time to determine actions also, the Streamlabs has an AWAY mode, which when set requires very little water flow to trigger an action & also a connection for a 9V battery to continue operation in case the power fails ?mark |
Thanks Mark.?? I actually wrote about streamlabs just about a year ago.? You can find that article here:?? Looking at their web site things have changed quite a bit since then.? For one, the company was bought by RWC which gives them a much more stable financial situation.? Second they clearly have a new product and the price has gone way up.? I haven't looked deep enough to see if they have improved their sensitivity to a leak.? A year ago they were the least sensitive of any of the products I looked at due to the measurement technology they were using.? The features you point out are nice differentiators but not the only ones and I expect that companies, like Phyn, Flo, and others will simply be leapfrogging each other each time they release a new product.?? Thanks Jay
