Simple advanced e mail send module

 

?Anyone else had issues with the emails being sent via the advanced email module failing.
Had been working for years until mid march this year.
Any fixes or work arounds?

Over the last few years a lot of the email servers like Comcast or Google have locked down their smtp servers for spam prevention and the mail module stopped working with them. Sendgrid used to have a free plan that would allow 100 emails a month that worked fine but that's been discontinued, though mine keeps working but expect at some point it will stop since that plan was discontinued as of May 2025. There are other companies with free smtp servers that might work but I haven't dug into them as an alternative yet.

SMTP To Go is a service that I use, it has a free option as well as subscription.
It's head office is where I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, but it has data centres around the world. It is use by a lot of companies for bulk email among other things. I use is so that controllers can report data without authentication issues. Works well on a 2 series, and of course anything better.

We are using smpt2go to send email to a Gmail account this has stopped working in march.

I ran across this today, while searching for something completely unrelated. It was quite a shock, and very disappointing...
 

Thanks Tony.? Not surprising due to the pressure on telcoms to cut down on spam text messages.

For those looking for an alternative, I have a module that sends Pushover notifications to smart phones.? I've written a couple of notification modules and this is by far the most popular. Pushover works with both Android and iOS phones.

The module is free for programmers to use with their own systems and for dealers to use on demo systems in their showrooms.? I just ask for a small, one-time payment if you are going to profit on it by using it with customer systems.

Kinda bummed over this.? I just finished replacing my older generators transfer switch and did a complete rewire because of rodent wire damage.
My older Generac generator is one year to old for wifi connection so I made my own interface at the generator and now I can monitor the status of it from my smart phone.? I even added the send email function to notify me of a change of status.? Just got it all working last week only to read here that the send email function will fail in a couple of weeks.
