Dish Network Hopper2000

Hey Y'all,
Just left a clients house who has a Dish DVR model Hopper2000. Any chance one of you guys has an IR file for it. The menu says IR is enabled but none of the older drivers work. Very new device, thought I would try you guys before calling Dish Network. His remote was UHF of course, so learning was out of the question.
TIA, Kim

Try the older Dish IR codes, i would think its the same codes.

Jon

Sorry, just saw you said you already tried them.

If you press menu, menu on the dish remote. Does it have an IR address? Maybe default is not address 1. I have driver for 1,3,and,5 if that helps.

Jon

Yes, this is a new box from EchoStar, . Whole new remote and interface. It's always something to screw things up. The setup says it can do both IR and UHF. No unit codes like the old ones. Just says IR enable and disable in the menu. I'll give them a call and see what they can do for us and let you all know. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who will be needing the info soon.

Logitech Harmony software has this in their database already, device is just called Hopper. Any chance you could pick one up cheap and learn the IR from harmony to Deal... Used to do this, got rid of remote, might pick a new one up.

Hi, Y'all,

Just to update you guys on this post. The Hopper remote has a switch in the battery compartment to switch the remote to IR. I will learn the remote for all and post it when I get back on site.

FYI, Kim

I just got a Hopper, and the codes were the same as the 922. The unit has some quirks, for sure, I feel like a beta tester.

Great, I will give that a shot. What did you end up doing for the color commands (red, yellow, green, blue)?

I don't see those on the 922 driver but they are on the remote and am unsure how vital these are to the interface. Thanks for the quick reply.

As you say, the color commands don't exist on the 922 symbol. I have not really missed them, though, as you can use the cursor keys to select pretty much anything on the screen.

I've got one Hopper and one Joey(who comes up with these names!), and the whole system has a bit of a rough feel, with some of the features supposedly coming in future releases. Hopefully they will simplify the GUI somewhat, as my wife was complaining about all the options that are presented when setting up a recording.

Is it true that hopper remotes are rf only or is there ir or some other method of controlling them.

I just uploaded the file for IR address 1 (the Hopper and 922 only respond to address 1). This works great on my hopper and Joey. Including the colors and on/off commands.

The hopper remote is RF only but the box has IR window. so there is no way to get IR from the hopper remote. Luckily dish allows Rf and IR at the same time (unlike Directv). so the customer can use the Rf remote if they want and also use IR from other means (like Crestron).

The 722k remote has an IR remote that can be learned and those codes work for hopper, joey, and mostly for 922 [the 922 only accepts to colors, forget which, and doesnt like the other two color for their intended functions]. I tried to get some engineering contacts at dish to send me IR codes for the 922 for the two colors but they tell me that those codes dont exist and wouldnt add them for me.

At least they work on the Hopper/joey
