Directv IP module, anybody have something?

Anyone have a basic directv IP module try can share?

I would be happy to share improvement I would make if someone can get something started, anyone have something they started that works?

I'm hoping to post something in the next few days - assuming you're talking about TCP/IP control, right?

Gotta say, this JSON stuff kinda blows. Make me search for and count curly braces - really??? Can I Haz XML Back?

Just uploaded version "b1"... This is a PRELIMINARY module. I'm (wife) testing this at home now starting today. Whether this gives any improvement over IR is debatable, but there are extra features besides just IR remote emulation. I'm mulling over how to best implement a few additions, so again - this is a PRELIMINARY module. I'd love & appreciate feedback from anyone that has time to test it.

Be sure to read the module help...

Thanks,
- Chip

"I'm (wife)testing this at home now starting today" Let the boss tell you if it works. I like your way of testing. Thanks Chip for posting the module.

Ah, but I set that up the way it is on purpose. Auto refresh is as far away as dropping an OSC in your program. Didn't want the module doing extra work in case some only wanted the info to refresh when (for example) they flip to a particular page...

Yeah - poky response from the TV on-screen guide is a guaranteed way to get her riled up. 'Cos I know a few moments after her pounding buttons harder in an attempt to get it working better, I'm gonna get "that look"...

And in the case of network failure, I've got an IP coms heartbeat thing going - if it times out, the remote falls back to IR. :)

Same/similar reason why the satellite doesn't go through the surround sound system - no volume bargraph on the TV screen. Some day I'll have a RS232 controlled surround sound processor and a DVPHD... :)

I "wife test" all of the time; many times something that makes sense to me just doesn't cut it with her. I will rework it to try to get as much functionality in that makes sense and is easy for her to use. At that point, I then consider using it in other projects.

Very nice chip. Gave it a preliminary run and worked well. Will follow up
after running for a while.

Thanks John. Planning on adding music channel feedback on the "current station info" section, and adding a (dynamic) 20-element "now playing on other channels" section over the T-day weekend...
