Crestron Tstat manual lock out???

 

Does anyone know if there is a way to lock out the manual control
(front panel buttons) of a Crestron tstat and only have control from a
TP. (besides placing the stat in a lock box with an outboard sensor)

I asked that question about a year ago and was told the is NOT a way to do that.

I would assume that's what the "Front Panel Lockout" on Slot 5 of the Cresnet symbol is for... I've never used it that way (I rather like using the hard buttons on my TSTAT at home) but the Help supports that assumption

"Locks out the four hard pushbuttons on the thermostat for as long as the input remains high. In this mode, pressing the buttons will have no effect. Automatically disabled in case of system error or failure."

Just find a way to keep the HVAC contractor from thinking the STAT is
permanently frozen and needs to be replaced with a nice new Honeywell.


Instead of a lockbox, how about using the furnace 'stat wiring for the
remote sensor and move the TSTAT near the furnace....if you have
cresnet there. Bypass the CHV-TSTAT's internal temp sensor...

Your contractor will think you're just trying to make his life easier.
 

I've used the lockout successfully, the only thing to know is that when it loses communications with the processor the front panel buttons come back to life.
(Probably a GOOD thing)
