Apparently a email went out this morning to crestron employees that they are changing the test.....

Jon Ottensen came in and gave a whole speech of just do it.
Never met him, seems like a cool guy.

I just finished 301 last week and on Friday the sent out an email saying they were changing the cert test. I got mine in an email yesterday. And looks and sounds like the old cert test. Even one of the questions I remember someone telling me last week about needing to use a 8 or 12 digit keypad with .wav playback function and sure enough it was this cert. if u want I can shoot u a copy of the scope, I don't think it will hurt to see what ur getting into.

I took 301 in January and am in the process of taking the test. I'm about 70% through but haven't had time to finish with "real" projects going on. Got an extension from them for another two months. Anyway, during the class they mentioned that they were going to be introducing a 401 class that would be 3-4 days and would replace the cert test. After 401, you are certified. I don't see how this would be fair to other programmers who took the practical or how it would be a fair assessment of a programmer's abilities. Perhaps they abandoned the idea.

Just Finished 301 on Wednesday. The test wasnt showing up in mycti but i just sent mark Young a quick email and he got it squared away, and got my test posted on mycti.

I hope the test is different because that would be complete BS if it was the same test. A guy I work with that has not been to the 3rd class called crestron and was offered a copy of the test and got it. It was the same test I had. WTF? You mean you are giving out the test to anyone now without the time constraints the rest of us had. That really doesn't sound fair.

That's what I heard too Tony: new tests for Platinum and Gold, plus now Silver (no more frequent flyer trips for Silver). The offer was for a copy of the old-Gold test, so we could complete it "just for fun". It sounds like they are back to the "regular" Certification tests, but are working to improve the completion rates and reduce the back-check time. Both sound like good things to me!
