Android Mobile Pro (Purple) Long shot...
Okay Mates, wondering if any of you have experienced this, and can help.
(However, I'm certain I know the answer, and just don't want to accept the answer). Frankly I didn't even remember the Mobile Pro being available on the Android Platform. But one of my clients, has had it on his old Samsung 21, but when he upgraded to the new Samsung (24-25 Something) the app didn't move over.? ? I know that on the Apple App Store, as long as they have Previously Purchased it, they can restore it from that Purchase, and I've done that a lot. On his new phone, in the Google Play Store we did find it purchased in 2/18/2018, but it doesn't have an install button, but somewhere on the page it says not compatible with this phone. The Client is finding it hard to believe that if it worked on the 21, why it won't work on his new one. In Short (Too Late), Does anyone know of a way to get the app, and side load it into an Android (as I know there is a setting that will allow installs not from the Play Store. Or any other helpful hints, things to try, or cleaver ways to tell the Client "Looks like your getting a new Crestron System" (Even though he's had this system for over a decade, loves it, and doesn't want it to change).? |
My phone (Android 15) still runs the Crestron's original Mobile App (although I am running the free Blue App). ? Newer versions of Android may not work because I had a different App that stopped working when my phone ungraded to v15.
?
Given that, according to my notes, it should be possible.? Below are my notes:

Haven't tried this for several years but it might be worth a shot.

Bad news, no you wont be able to install it. the problem is after android 14 it will only take 64 bit apps, and Mobile app doesnt run in it. there is a work around, which include downgadre the android phone to 13 or older, install the app them upgrade to 14 or newer, it runs on mine but i dont have the latest version of android, and i doubt you can downgrade to 13 on a newer phone.? |
Crestron Mobile is a 32 bit app, newer phones dropped support for it. Started with the Samsung Galaxy S24 which, as far as I know, was the first device which only runs 64 bit apps.
?
Edit: Only option is to upgrade to Crestron Go which would mean re-programming and depending on which processor is used you may also need to upgrade it. |
My phone is running Android 15 (Pixel 6) has no problems running the Crestron Mobile app.? So it appears that Android 15 will do 32 bit apps.? It is probably more of a question if the underlying hardware accepts 32 bit app.
?
Also, if you are using encryption with Crestron Mobile, it is probably an issue too as the encryption that Mobile uses is depreciated. .

Actually, it got transfer over by my cell phone provider when they gave me a new phone.? I think the only thing I had to do was add the system details to the App as I don't believe the user data transferred over to the new phone.? But if you read the other messages in this thread, it appears a lot of new phones will not run 32 bit apps unless you downgrade the Android version, install the App, and then upgrade to the new Android version.
?
I have installed the Crestron Mobile App to client's new iOS devices after the app was discontinued but not recently.? Most of my clients use iOS instead of Android.? I can only think of one client that is using Android and his system uses Crestron Go (formally the White App).
