A bit off topic. Smart wired smoke and CO detectors

I am currently building a unattached garage with a bonus room over, with the works. New building code dictates wired detectors. The building will be pretty much sound proof so if the detectors go off, I need a way to be notified as the main house is about 75 feet away. There will be automation out there but a separate system then the main house. I'm not to concerned if they integrate with crestron but I would like to trigger a red light visible from outside if something is wrong backed up by a notification on my phone. Curious what others have done with a situation like this. This is my retirement man cave. 28 feet deep by 36 feet long, 11 foot ceiling on the garage level with radiant heat. Second floor has full kitchen, bath and laundry. Central A/C with heat pump and a hydro-coil heat backup that is supplied by the combi boiler for the garage level.

The Firefighter Z-Wave Plus Wireless Smoke/CO Audio Sensor might work for you.??

I included this in an article I wrote on the First Alert Model ZCOMBO Z-Wave Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm but I wasn't able to test the device personally.? It is included on Hubitat's list of compatible devices so I should be able to add support for it into my Hubitat-Crestron driver with a bit of help on your end sending me examples of the JSON the Hubitat would produce when the Ecolink hears a smoke alarm.

Hope this helps

New construction building code here dictates hard wired detectors.

I wasn't suggesting to use the First Alert smoke/co detector, which is battery operated and doesn't meet your requirements.

I was suggesting to use the Firefighter Z-Wave Plus Wireless Smoke/CO Audio Sensor. This device will work with your wired smoke detectors. It senses the specific sound make by a smoke detector when it detects smoke and then triggers an alert over Z-Wave to a compatible hub, such as the Hubitat. That alert can then then trigger other actions, such as turning on a light that is visible from your main residence.

Well, there are smoke detectors with relais output that can be integrated into any home automation system.

Just as an example, we use the Gira Dual Q detectors with the ability to integrate into KNX, wirelessly or via an internal relais module:

Nest protect would probably do what you need. The crestron integration is a PITA, but if you install them in you main house and the back house they will notify through the detectors in the main house detectors that there is an issue in the guest house. They also support phone notifications.

I¡¯ve got them in my house and love the way it works. I put one in the attic and garage as well so if there is smoke or a fire, it will notify me where the issue is for example ¡°there is smoke in the kitchen¡± is announced through all of the other protects as well as lighting up a specific color based on the warning.
