Projector model is Sony VPL-PHZ60 and?I set the comspec to 38400 E 8 1.?

When I send a command, I just get the reply:?
err_cmd
Which means the comspec and 232 wiring are good.?

As a test, I used the following:?
power "on"\r
power "off"\r
also tested without the quotes.

Any ideas of what I can do more to gain control of this device??

Strange, I just did a PHZ50 controlled IP and these are the commands that work...

Sony PJs require even parity. Check that setting and? put a loopback to confirm that bytes looped back are exactly what you sent.

Yes, I have even parity set and get plain text reply from the projector.?
So, I am confident in the wiring and comspec.?
Display just does not like the command format. As always, MFR documents are very poor.?

Also tried PJ link commands via 232 but they did not work either.?
Called into Sony support. They say I might get a call back in a day or two.?

Hi Tray,

are you using the RS232 port on the projector or RS232 via HDBT?
Sony uses different baud rate on HDBT, iirc 19200 N 8 1, but not 100% sure if N or E.

I am using the DB9 port for control.?
I saw in the documentation where baud rate for the HDBaseT port is 9600

I updated firmware through the web interface, downloaded firmware from the support page for the projector model.?

After working with Sony yesterday, I can turn the projector on, but not off. Nor can I change inputs.?
However, I get 'ok' and proper responses for input and power state queries.?

I will continue to work with Sony on this but I am hoping others have worked around this 232 landmine.?
