VC-4 and Standalone License

I am working on a project that can not have an outside connection. According to TrueBlue there has to be a connection to XiO Cloud, but according to on of the DEs on staff at Infocomm someone at Crestron said there is a way to bypass it. Has anyone heard of a way to bypass the XiO Cloud requirement?

I'm pretty sure it only needs to connect to xio to validate the license.? Surely that could be done offsite.?

I was under the impression it has to phone home to verify the license.? Otherwise, you could pay for one month and then cancel (or transfer?) the license and take it offline.

I am looking for the same thing as we have many stand alone projects where the processor is connected to a closed private network.
Sometimes this is by the client's request as they do not want the AV equipment on their network
So if there is a workaround I would be interested.

The last I heard, it must connect to XIO to verify the license and then it must phone home every few months.

Keep in mind that you can have multiple network interfaces on the server running VC-4. It would be possible to have an additional interface that can reach the internet separate from the main AV control interface that can not. This still may not be acceptable in every situation but may solve some issues.

I listened to the VC-4 webinar yesterday and they said the option for airgapped networks is very much on their list to provide. no timetable given.

I though VC-4 was a lifetime license, why would it need to keep "phoning home" other than 1 time to verify the license initially?

Chris, so that dishonorable people don't clone the virtual machine after VC4 is licensed and spin up free copies for every job they do.
