Alexa thermostat control
Hey everyone, so I just got my Horizon thermostat installed and all in all it¡¯s a pretty nice unit. ?It¡¯s no Nest as far as features go and the weather displays perfectly so far on it¡ Since the setup and install went so smoothly I figured I¡¯d give the voice services a shot. ?I got everything setup and paired and linked and logged in and codes sent. ?I can now tell Alexa to turn the thermostat off, or to set the temperature to 75?but once I set the mode to off I can¡¯t for the life of me figure out how to turn it back on again via Alexa. Telling Alexa ¡°Alexa set the thermostat to off¡± works perfectly but saying ¡°Alexa set the thermostat to cool¡± or ¡°Alexa set the thermostat mode to cool¡± or ¡°Alexa pretty pretty please do this one simple thing I ask¡± only gets the response ¡°Thermostat isn¡¯t responding¡±. ?The FB in the Alexa app is populated correctly with the current mode and temperature as expected and the SIMPL module is pretty simple as far as ins and out go but I cannot set it to heat, cool or auto from the Alexa app either. ?Everything looks like it should be working but alas, it is not. ?Full disclosure, this is the first time I¡¯ve used these voice control modules and they are the ¡®new¡¯ 2.0 versions running on a CP3N. ?Any thoughts? ?What am I missing?

Realy guys? Nothing?
Just a little more thinking on the topic, aside from the room or name inputs the thermostat voice control module should function universally¡meaning it doesn¡¯t really matter what is defined in the voice module ins and outs. ?I ¡®could¡¯ have the cool FB turn on a light switch or send an IR command. ?I guess my point is that there should be a fixed list of commands that this thing will respond to and I can¡¯t seem to find that documentation anywhere¡unless I¡¯m fundamentally miss understanding how it works. ?Just trying to understand what I¡¯m doing wrong or if something is broken under the hood. |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe closest thing I know of to a list of voice commands is to read through the help for the Voice Control Room Climate v2.0.0 Crestron module.? The commands aren't in a unified list but are spread out throughout the help.? Also, the help specifies that for the voice commands to work properly you have to properly set the inputs to the module based on feedback from the thermostat including current temperature, current mode, current set point, etc. Jay On 7/28/2021 7:30 PM, AVMaster wrote:

That¡¯s what¡¯s really got me stumped. ?The ins and outs of the module are pretty cut and dry. ?Likewise with the HZ-STAT. ?I can set the temperature and turn it off but that¡¯s it. ?All the information displays properly in the Alexa app as well¡but I can¡¯t change the mode there either. ?Thanks for the feedback though J, appreciate it.

I know with the 2.0 modules the raise and lower for volume on generic devices isn't working for us. It does work on the older modules (alexa raise kitchen music). We are able to set the volume to a level with the set alexa command (alexa set kitchen music 20%). I only put the 2.0 on one site so far but will try and test through tstat commands and also see if raise and lower still work for the lights.?

AVmaster,
In debugger, are you seeing any commands triggered by the Voice modules when you try to set the mode to something other than OFF?? I know that both the DIN-THSTAT and HZ-THSTAT have slightly different hardware device interfaces in SMW compared to the ol' CHV units. CHV had discrete Digital inputs where the DIN and HZ units have a single Analog input for the modes (And yes, I've complained bitterly over the years about the lack of standards with CHV, EX and DIN/HZ...:)? ) I know this is basic but that usually bites me, always thinking that there's something more sophisticated at hand...HaHa... |
