Death of Xpanel 2.0 (Web) Smart Graphic #crestron #xpanel

Hello,

For those out there who used a lot of xpanels web in their projects. How did you manage to give access to your system since adobe flash is no more working this 2021-01-12? I found some assumptions on the forum but didn't any concrete solutions since the shutdown.

Any HTML5 solutions? (Newest post I found on that it were still Beta last November)

At our company we choosed Web Xpanels for tons of reasons. I tried a Xpanel on the computers and can work as plan B but it will be a major downgrade for maintenances.

?

The only solution right now is the XPanel Conversion Tool (XCT). If you're planning on keeping a web solution, it's all on the programmers at this time to create an HTML5 solution from scratch.

The conversion launches an Adobe AIR instance, so there's still the software aspect of it. You can't just launch a browser and run an XPanel in there.

Having converted a number of web xpanels to smartgraphics xpanels they work fine. ? One thing we are currently seeing is the bottom being cut off on the panels when they are run on ultrawide monitors 21:9 aspect. ? On a normal ?16:9 ratio monitors they are displayed fine. ? We've raised this as a case and would be interested if anyone else has found any thing similar.

would prefer a fix rather than moving up a load of buttons on the panel layouts.?

Regarding the cutoff XPanels, I think this is/was an issue with the Adobe Air version installed on the machines.

Found it?

I'm running into an issue where the xpanel conversion tool does not convert the ipid, has to be done manually in the host settings on the xpanel when you log onto the processor. Wondering if anyone else has this issue, I have a ticket into true blue.

Thanks for the info.? ?I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Also just as a heads up to everyone: after the conversion with the XCT, when a user calls up the web interface of a processor it requires the requesting machine to have internet access to download the software tool directly from Crestron.com (not always a given) and it requires administrator rights to install the software tool (also not always a given).? This becomes a problem in more secure deployments where users may not have software install rights.?

There are obviously solutions, but it requires more time, communication and people involved to get back to operational in some environments.

Oh wow.? Not cool for a lot of my jobs.

"XCT > Preferences > Desktop Installer Location" is where you change the URL that the XCT Landing page's "Install" button points to for the XPanel Desktop downloads.

By default it's set to:

  • Windows =?
  • Mac =?
You can always download them beforehand and toss them on the processor (\html\ folder) or local webserver and point it there before running the conversion.

This is the offical fix for the cut off xPanels.? ?Just tested and all working fine now.? The issue is linked to the current version of Adobe Air
