AppleTV Context Menu Access
Has anyone figured out how to access the context menu (for switching users) on an AppleTV using IR control?? A long press of the Home button on the Siri remote brings up the context menu. I'm currently using the IR module because I've been having some issues with the Ultamation module losing the connection to the AppleTV and it doesn't appear to be possible.? I have the menu, menu_home, and options commands all configured and none of them bring up the context menu with a short or long press. Looking at the commands available in the Ultamation module, it looks like they have a context menu command which may do the trick, so perhaps I just need to switch back to the Ultamation module, or use it just for certain commands. Thanks, Geoff |
Not really an answer to Geoff¡¯s question, but we are working on an update for the ATV module. ?With tvOS 14 it looks like Apple have gone a bit byte-happy with their message payloads which has given us a load of buffer overflows in the decryption. ?At the same time I¡¯m looking to improve feedback and transport control. ?Update should be ready soon.
The Bonjour issue remains, but Crestron engineering have been actively working on that - we even had a zoom call to verify the exact symptoms. Sorry Geoff - I didn¡¯t mean to take your post OT. Oliver - Ultamation |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLooking forward to the update.?
Have you by chance managed to work out how to launch specific apps ?

No worries Oliver. I'm finding that update notices on the AppleTV are getting much more aggressive with auto updates disabled.? The latest one is pestering me every time I start the system up and sometimes again in the middle of watching something. I haven't tried any of these codes yet, but it's worth trying the code sets from the Global Cache - Control Tower IR Database.
They have one of the largest code databases that I've used. Some of the interesting codes included for the Apple TV Gen 4 are: "Menu Home", "Menu Main", "Options" (might work), "Diagnostic Logs" (???), "Output Resolution", "Play Forward 10x", "Play Reverse 10x", and "Restart". Many of these codes, I never knew existed. Hope this helps! |
The IR driver that's in the application market includes all of those, I believe (except maybe the Diagnostic Logs command) and none of them bring up the Context Menu.? I also put the Ultimation module back into my program over the weekend and hooked up only the Context Menu button - that doesn't seem to open the Context Menu either.? But I'll take a look at the
Global Cache - Control Tower IR Database later this afternoon and see if any of the commands are different from what I already have. Thanks! The one I'm using is named "Apple Apple TV 4th GenXEN.ir" and has the following commands: cursor_down, cursor_up, cursor_left, cursor_right, select, ffwd, rew, menu_home, menu, options, output_resolution, play-pause, ffwd_10x, rew_10x, restart, stop, time_display, and diagnostic_logs I
thought it came from the application market, but I may be
misremembering.? I have another one named "Apple_TV.ir" that has just 7
commands, which sounds like the one you just downloaded. Geoff On Mon, Nov 23, 2020 at 2:31 PM web1111a via <web1111a=[email protected]> wrote: I just downloaded the applicaton market one and all I see are up down left right menu and play pause |
Just to close the loop on the IR codes, the AppleTV IR file I'm using came from the downloads, not the application market.? From what I can tell, it contains the codes that are in the
Global Cache database.? Here's the link: Geoff On Mon, Nov 23, 2020 at 2:48 PM Geoffrey Reynolds via <greynlds=[email protected]> wrote:
