SimplWindows 4.14.21
I tried it last week and I rolled back to v4.14.10 on the same day.
Feels like they added some overhead stuff that really slows it down, specially when working on bigger projects.
There is a noticeable delay when using F9, auto-increment join numbers, etc. Seriously, it feels like molasses.
?
There is an entry in Labs titled "SIMPL 4.14.20 is a step back" that points to the same issues and more. It is unfortunate that Labs is now closed for "non-beta" related posts. Too bad because most of the official releases always categorize as beta to me. I don't recommend the latest Simpl Windows. v4.14.10 is not that great either, but at least is the latest one that does not slows me down as much. |
开云体育I’m running 4.14.20 with database 200. I honestly haven’t seen any issues. I don’t notice any delay with F9, auto-increment join numbers, but I’ve had signal completion aid and display connection status disabled since day 1. When SIMPL added those, it became pretty slow for me, so I just disabled them and moved on. ? As for something groundbreaking, you’d need at least 4.14.10 to program a 4 series if you wanted to program it in SIMPL. ? Caleb Radecky |

+1 Caleb (esp. on the point about 4 series!)
I'm running 4.14.21 with the latest DBs and the only "issues" I've hit are those that come with the breaking changes that came with the newer databases.? I'm not denying that the database changes present a pain when you go back to an older program and have to update things to get it to compile again, but - on the other hand - anyone who stays on 4.10 is just putting off that inevitable pain. |
Hi Caleb,
after reading about your experience I decided to give it a second try and re-installed the 4.14.21 and today it seems to be behaving much better than last week.?I always disable signal completion aid as well.
What is weird is that I tested the newer simpl windows in two separate laptops to make sure it wasn't something related to a particular machine, and they were both slow last week... then I downgraded to?4.14.10.00?after that.
?
Fast forward to today and, after upgrading back to 4.14.21 things seem to be just fine. Go figure.

One issue that you will hit beyond 4.11.06 is when you open the Simp+ editor on a hi-res monitor (higher than 1920x1080) it is riddled with graphical artifacts that make it unusable). ?I have found two workarounds. ?First, add one monitor to your rig that is 1920x1080 and put Simpl+ there. ?Second, use Visual Studio Code with One of the Crestron extensions. ?The sad part about this is that it has been broke for months and Crestron seems to think this is OK :-(

开云体育Can?t confirm that. Running on a 5120x1440 screen without issues. ? Cheers, Thorsten ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Dean Detton ? 开云体育I run it on 4k monitors and don't see any artifacting.?

开云体育Ditto, my laptop is a 4K display and my desktop is 3x >1920x1080 (but sub 4K) and I’ve seen the occasional scaling issue in other programs but can’t say I’ve seen anything particularly horrid in SIMPL ? What OS and DPI settings? When things go horribly wrong with scaling its more typically DPI than straight resplution ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ?
