How is Crestron Fusion different from Xio Cloud? #crestron

Hi all,

I am pretty confused with finding out the exact difference between the Crestron fusion and the Xio cloud features, like where exactly I use the Crestron fusion services or the Xio cloud services. Could anyone you guys can through some point regarding the exact usage of the Crestron Fusion and the Xio cloud services.

Basically I have a system with around 30 conference rooms with (DM-NVX, mercury, TSW panels, soundbars, TST-902, AV3, Wireless gateways, etc) I need to find a platform to easily configure them when deploying them and then closely monitor and provide support to the clients if required.

Here for my situation which flatform would be the best solution?
Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you
?

FUSION - is a customizable monitoring software Onprem/Cloud (think help desk options, energy management, higher education support desk Etc.)

XIO Cloud - is for static monitoring of only provided (embedded types, names, ip address, etc) items are read only.... and only provide minimal configuration types at this time for certain devices, as this is expanding all the time.?

thank you??

Sharan,

I would suggest you connect with your Sales Rep from Crestron. They can guide you through the feature sets.?

if you¡¯ve never done Fusion before I HIGHLY suggest you go through the training and possibly build your own setup before deploying for a client.?

Thanks!

I would say this is too generalized, and XIO cloud isn't just for static info, and certainly isn't minimal from the writeups on it. XIO cloud also allows remote operation in real time of some devices, like a touchpanel, so you can see what the user is doing or take control yourself to get them going as if you were in the room.

I would agree the information can be pretty ambiguous, I had to dig around to find the info below, if you just look at the main XIO info page it's pretty underwhelming. We are in the midst of deciding which way to go, we have the licensing for on-prem Fusion, but last I was aware it could only do basic room control (ie on, off) and would alert you if something went wrong (but you would have to use other software or go to the room to fix it). I lean towards XIO cloud so techs can take control of the room or walk people through what they're doing, but don't care for the licensing as much. There are certainly more features I've glossed over, but this is my general understanding at the moment. Please correct me if I'm wrong, always happy to know more.

XIO Cloud Premium:
Key Features
  • Supports a direct device-to-cloud connection via the Microsoft? Azure? software IoT?Hub without requiring any additional hardware
  • Remotely provision, monitor, and manage Crestron? devices across an enterprise
  • Apply changes to multiple devices at once by organizing them into groups and subgroups
  • Update firmware and configure settings for multiple devices simultaneously
  • Schedule actions such as program load, firmware updates, and reboots for a future time, including recurrence patterns
  • Monitor the status of all connected devices remotely
  • Claim hundreds of devices to the cloud before installation
  • View real world device usage information using interactive and filterable charts
  • Send alert messages to specified users when a device enters an error state
  • View error logs in an alert status pane that also displays resolution status
  • Track account usage and changes with cloud audit logs
  • Integrate status information into other monitoring tools via REST?API interface

This is not totally true. Out of the box, Fusion's standard commands let you do room on/off. But with the right programming, you can make Fusion do all sorts of things. We have separate controls for "system" on/off and "display" on/off. There are also ways to monitor/log just about any attribute you can have in SIMPL Windows and tell Fusion what to do when certain conditions occur. A simple example would be to have Fusion email you if lamp hours in a room got too high.

You can also link to system xPanels in Fusion for greater room control. My techs have access to the DMPS3 system xpanels as well as control xpanels at their fingertips if they get a call. We're often able to switch a source for a guest presenter, or detect if the PC doesn't have sync (because they didn't turn it on...).

I've been told that eventually, most Fusion features will migrate to XiO Cloud. The future is XiO Cloud.

Keep in mind:
If everything you have is 3-series or newer, you should be able to use either or depending on what you want to do. If you have 2-series controllers, they only work with an on-premises Fusion server.

Just want to add a little spice on this topic, I found no function Fusion offers to remotely reboot a TSW/TSS or Mercury, wonder if that's something Crestron kept as XIO cloud's advantage.
