V15 on DGE-2 "fading out"
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis isn¡¯t something I¡¯ve seen myself but rather something a (highly technically inclined) end-user client is relating from a not-so-technically inclined but VIP end user of theirs. ? The user spends a few hours a day in front of a V15 being driven from a DGE2 that was commissioned 3-4 years ago and no prior complaints. Around a week ago the user reported that occasionally (randomly but frequently enough to be annoying) the V15 was going blank. ? With that level of detail it sounded to me like a ¡°D¡± cable issue and asked the client to check both the D and M for integrity and/or a loose connection (there¡¯s one patch point and the run is ~25¡¯ total) ? Today I got more detail that rather than just cutting out it¡¯s a slow fade out and then ¡°snapping back¡± to ?full brightness and the frequency is increasing. ? Now I¡¯m starting to suspect the panel itself is failing (possibly the backlight inverter ¨C not sure if the V15 is fluorescent or LED back-lit) ? The client is ordering a TS-1542-C to have on hand as a spare generally, and specifically to replace the DGE/V15 if it comes to it ¡ but in the interim¡ anyone seen this? ? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYep, that¡¯s why I think it¡¯s the D or M cable or the panel itself going ? I don¡¯t think the V15 has an ambient light sensor and unfortunately being a DM panel it¡¯s not exactly possible to try something other than the DGE-2 to drive it with what the client has on site. ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? My guess would be the screen (could have ambient light sensor enabled, etc). Try a different source on the same input of the display to see if the problem persists. |
Good to know, unfortunately or fortunately as the case may be it seems like we'll be retiring this DGE2 a little bit faster than expected.

It got dimmer and dimmer until it went dark. It would cycle through this process at various degrees of intensity and frequency and finally just went off in the corn field and never came back. |
