3 Series DM Matrix

Edited

Hi Guys -?

I recently used in two separate jobs an 8x8-CPU3 and a 16x16-CPU3 and find them to be slow in switching. The older 2 series 8x8 and 16x16 would switch much faster.

Can anyone add anything to this? Or have you experienced this?

I’ve done a ton of -CPU3 systems in all three sizes and can’t say I’ve noticed any slowdown in performance once they boot. The initial boot, especially on a 32X32 is pretty painful though.

?

That said I’m too cheap to order a -CPU3 card for my 16x16 at home so I haven’t really tried hammering on one or doing anything “weird” or “unconventional”

I did a job with a 8x8-CPU3 back about 4 months ago and didn't have any issues with slow switching.? However I did have some severe issues with it not passing PCM audio to the audio output jacks on the DSP input card.? The fix for my case was to downgrade to an earlier firmware (v3.00.26).? While I hear the latest firmware for the DM fixes a lot of issues, maybe an undesirable side effect is slow switching.

Be forewarn however that downgrading firmware did brick some of the RMC room boxes and took special instructions from Crestron to bring them back to life.

I have noticed the 4kz endpoints are really slow.?

I noticed this recently. Also 4kz endpoints.?

Close to a full second between making a route -- either programmatically or directly in the web GUI -- and the signal actually switching.?

Haven't seen that with CPU3 units.?
What cards/receivers are you using? If there's no scaler involved your sink gets a completely new signal everytime the source changes and handling that is timewise very different between sinks.

I have noticed the same thing with the cpu3 units being slower to display video on a switch than the 2-series switchers. Is this firmware related or just differences in the4k stuff?

This has been a noticeable pain for us the second we started putting them in.? I was just informed by big blue last week to try putting the matrix into 'compatibility mode' through the web interface by checking the appropriate box.? The matrix will reboot but i'm also not sure if I now have to now define the device in Simpl as a non CPU3 chassis.? I plan on trying this to the 16x16 matrix we are doing this week and hopefully get better results.??

My endpoints are the DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C. I am running the latest puf as well. The 4KZ hardware feels like the early days of DM, whether it is a TX or RMC - seems to be problematic with DM Tools erratic behavior and slow switching.

Thanks to everyone for their response, as many are having the same issues with new CPU3 + 4KZ hardware. I do hope this gets resolved soon.

Has this problem been solved? I'm having the same issue with a 16x16 CPU3.

For me, after all of the PUF updates, this is still an issue with slow switching.

It is odd that this is not making any more waves than it is.?

My switcher of choice was the 2 Series 8x8 - super fast switching.
