There is possibly a more-better approach.
You can employ Toolbox to connect to the MLX-3, via a "USB" hardwired connection. You can enter the remote control specifics...S/N and type or simply leave those areas blank and see if Toolbox connects. If not, enter the actual Serial Number and remote type and try again. I find this area to be a bit flaky and multiple attempts are often required.
Once the MLX-3 is connected, look at the loaded "Program", which might actually be empty.
Find the Compiled MLX-3 vtz file...do note the time of the most recent Compile.
The path might be something like...Users, Your Name, Local, Temp, Simpl or perhaps System Builder and look in the "Interfaces" folder for the MLX-
Select the exact file and then "Send" it to the MLX-3.
Once you hit the Send button, it will only take a few short seconds to load to the MLX-3. The MLX-3 will reboot and should then begin to display the contents of your efforts...it is not instantaneous, however.
As far as the "Locking Up" statement, I have found that the early model releases have all suffered from a defective "Scroll Wheel". This is a known defect and Crestron has replaced them all without question. I do find that they may not wake as expected. Be sure to check the areas, in programming, when you want the screen to actually light. The default is for Media, Lights and Climate as I recall but you are free to select any and all areas for when you want the Screen to light by checking the "Check Box" for that particular Page.

Subject: [Crestron] Proper procedure of uploading project to MLX-3
I'm still learning the ropes with Crestron (I guess that will always be true) but I just need to make sure I'm doing this right. I bought an MLX-3 remote to control my bedroom system with and also my living room as an option. I played with it this weekend and figured out how to somehow upload to it and get the idea of how setup the pages, icons, text, etc...and how it connects in SIMPL.
I read on here there have been some problems with them locking up and what not, and now mine seems like it might have been doing that, but it may have been my error messing around during me doing other things.
Anyway, Question #1:
I've been creating some pages and setup in VTP, then F12 to save/compile/upload. I created entries in the address book to upload via the gateway; so tell me if this is correct.
I've got my CP2E communicating via IP
Then I have my gateway on another entry with: indirect connection type - Cresnet ID 2F (since its connected via Cresnet, not ethernet) - and the 'through' field has my CP2E TCP/IP selected.
Finally I have my MLX-3 in a 3rd entry with: indirect connection type - infiNET (EX) ID 04 (since its RF ID is set to 04) and my through field has my gateway selected.
I guess the logic is that I send from my laptop via WiFi to the CP2E, then the CP3E finds the MLX-3 'through' the gateway.
Correct? Or is there a better way to do this? I used the supplied USB cable to update the firmware and such so can I/ should I send the project to the remote over USB?
Question #2:
If sending the project to the remote over RF is correct then should I just be sending it and waiting for the remote to restart and do nothing to it? Would it going into standby mode affe! ct anything? Or...should I be putting it in setup mode (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) first before sending it?
When I F12 in VTP, I get the address book, I select the remote then I get the Project dialog, with 'Loaded project information and selected project information' Do I wait for those field to populate and then hit send? My Initialize and Reboot buttons seems to be grey'd out but I think Initalize would factory default it no?
Thanks in advance.
