Smartboard USB control over DM USB-HID

Can I use the USB-HID ports on the DM-RMC-Scaler and DM 8x8 input cards to send the Smartboard control to and from the pc.

Is the Smartboard considered an HID device?

The PC is located in a cabinet with the DM8x8 and the Smartboard is located on an adjacent wall about 30' away

Thanks for any info you may have.

I need to put a customer PC Tower on the Rack and still am looking for a
HID Mouse & Keyboard to extend to the RM-200-C on his office.

No, It's not compatible with HID Device. You need to have an usb extender
who is compatible with usb 1.1 or higher.

Kind of related note here - we recently purchased a Gefen USB 2.0 extender that was quite pricy for connecting our smart board to a Mac mini across the room. Had terrible issues with the pen tray not wanting to connect... Eventually we replaced the Gefen unit with a super cheap monoprice version (or something like that) and it works flawlessly!

Funny, we have been using the Gefen quite a bit and have had great luck with it. We even have had success putting a web cam and the Smart Board into the 2 ports on the receiver with no issues...

Is this the one you used?

The problem with usb is the amount of hub between the computer and the
device.

I see some extender acting like 3 hubs when connected.

And if you using the smart usb speaker your adding a new hub, the pentray
usb switcher is another hub.

Good point. We NEVER use the USB speakers, they are terrible. Also, the pen tray switching in the 800 series isn't the best either, would rather use an Extron USB switch.
