Re: Simpl#/Series 3 module for Tesla vehicle control
#user_library
Feel free, Jason! The Simpl#, Simpl+, and User modules are there in the .zip?file.? I think the module should be pretty intuitive to use, but let me know if you run into any issues. Tim On Sun, Oct 4, 2020 at 7:05 PM Jason LeMay via <fuseman13=[email protected]> wrote:

Simpl#/Series 3 module for Tesla vehicle control
#user_library
Hey all, A couple of years ago, I was dinking around to see if I could control my Tesla Model 3 via my Crestron MC3.? I ended up writing a couple of Simpl# libraries that allowed me to communicate with Tesla's vehicle APIs and display things like charging state, range, etc and to perform functions like turning on the HVAC.? While going through and reorganizing some of my private code repositories, I stumbled across it again, and figured I might as well open-source it in case anyone else might find use for it.? Documentation so far is lacking, as it wasn't originally intended for public consumption, but I've gone ahead and made the repo public in my github account: I will continue to expand the documentation as I find time. Hopefully, someone will find it interesting or useful. |
Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
I just checked, and their latest modules have finally added SmartGraphics support.
If you download the module, you'll see the CRPC i/o. The lack of Pandora support is a bit odd. Also, no Apple music support makes it a tough sell for most of our clients. Although, at least it has AirPlay 2 support. The API is readily available, so maybe we can convince Josh.ai to support it. It does look quite promising. |
Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt definitely looks promising.? Has the features I am looking for: Ethernet, L/R audio, SPDIF, Airplay2, OpenAPI, and supports major streaming platforms (except for Pandora).? Even IR control.?Looks like you may have to write your own module to interface with it.? And no SmartGraphics.? But I can live with that.? Pandora however may be the deal killer for some clients. Some others have posted on it in the past with issues with large Tidal libraries and other quirks but that may be fixed now. Unless someone knows some critical flaw with these units, I think my employer will be very interested in it.? Thanks, Steve On 10/4/20 5:56 PM, Michael Block via

More information..part 2:
I was able to fix the compiler error in Simpl+ but I also noticed that in the transport controls for CEN-NSP-1, the?NextTitle_F$ is a serial output with no serial input. But in VT Pro, the Media Player application shows "Next: Song Title", so this makes me think that I can change the text. Any suggestions? Thanks. |
Re: SimplWindows 4.14.21
One issue that you will hit beyond 4.11.06 is when you open the Simp+ editor on a hi-res monitor (higher than 1920x1080) it is riddled with graphical artifacts that make it unusable). ?I have found two workarounds. ?First, add one monitor to your rig that is 1920x1080 and put Simpl+ there. ?Second, use Visual Studio Code with One of the Crestron extensions. ?The sad part about this is that it has been broke for months and Crestron seems to think this is OK :-(

Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
... and there lies the problem! ?Try finding a music server that isn¡¯t clunky and is reliable. ?Also, it needs to support most music services.
I have been installing Autonomics since they controlled the Apple TV 1 and then partnered with S1 Digital. ?They¡¯ve always been a bit clunky. ?Snap AV didn¡¯t help that at all. ?Hopefully, it¡¯ll get better now that they¡¯ve separated a bit. ?At least it still works decent with the Smart Graphics touchscreens. I love the idea of Roon, but it¡¯s only great for music nuts like me that actually want to own music. ?They don¡¯t support streaming services that most clients use. It¡¯s sad when the best option might be to buy 4 AirPort Express units off eBay, so each member of the family can play music from the device they¡¯re usually listening to it from anyway. ... now where¡¯s that Escient that controls 400 disc Sony CD changers?! |
Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
The TRUE secret is TO JUST NOT SELL SONOS! Stick to a true media player that integrates and ISNT direct to consumer and DOESN'T care about integration or home control systems. One that truly believes that it should be allowed to be controlled by a 3rd party system. One that doesn't lock down its whole system and just allows minimal control.?

Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
The secret to reverting back to S1 is to download the S1 app and log in to you or your customers account.? We keep and old Connect handy at the shop and use it to add to the accoumt under S1...it will then have all of the favorites and streaming services.? Next step is to default all the S2 stuff and add it to the S1 account...then once up and running we remove the shop Connect and viola.? I believe the Arc, Move and latest Sub MUST be S2 tho so watch out for that.??

Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
Well, I decided to try and revert to S1 and factory defaulted everything, only to find out that wasn't possible.? So I set everything backup with S2 and now everything's working normal again.? I had to manually add back my favorites and they all showed up immediately on my TSW panel.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy apologies to AVMaster.? I should have just let his comments slide off my back.? I am sure he is in a tough position.? Let us only hope Crestron fixes the problem. For me, I have been burnt several times with Crestron/Sonos integration where I no longer design my systems to rely? on it. This is a known issue, TB is working into fixing it, on the meantime transfer it via Toolbox file manager... Don't hold your breath waiting for a fix, it has been broken for a while now?

As for your take on Crestron¡¯s Sonos promise - I concur entirely. After Crestron killed off their own streaming solution (NSP) Sonos effectively became the new ¡°official¡± solution to streaming music services within a Crestron system. Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWell, i guess somebody has just missed to announce the divorce¡ If you search for Crestron on the Sonos website, you get exactly one result (listing a couple of HEX codes for integration). If worked 25+ in IT. ?It is very obvious that the times of upfront information before changes take place have long been gone. Including testing. It?s the same with all the fancy software developing companies: they just throw out upates and new features because users love it. It?s always the same: service gets a change (you get an info about it a day before if works well, but most of the time you or your user will have to find out yourself), then you have a couple of buys days to adapt for the change. ? I?m totally with you: my expectation for this partnership were very high and it?s not like advertised. Even running the native app on touchscreens wasn?t what i?d call ?integration¡°. And the modules just support a fraction of the functionality. Now i try to avoid Sonos wherever i can. I?d even talk a customer out of Sonos if possible. ? Cheers, Thorsten ? ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von AVMaster ? And just in case you are still questioning a partnership...it took 10 seconds of googling to turn up theses press releases from Crestron
