Kodi control on 4-series

Hello all!

Has anyone managed to get the (now free) "Kodi Media Player" module from Shandonsoft work in a 4-series??

Lots of errors when running and while basic control seems to work, real-time information is not.?

Or, any alternative for Kodi control with 4-series?

Thanks,
Thanos

Thanks but I have mine set to 125% to make things easier to see.? Even so, this used to not be a problem for the S+ editor.? I've had the same DPI setting in windows and have been using a font size of 12 for a long time without issues; until now.

Thanks for validating I'm not crazy.? I've submitted the issue to TB.

Simpl+ Editor Problems

Just checking if anyone else is noticing issues with the S+ editor when the font size is enlarged to make it easier to read code.? If I change the font size to 12 I get random changes when I try to edit code.? If I change the font size back to the default value of 8 then it works fine.? I'm runnning v4.06 of the editor.

Thanks in advance for the help

Jay

Re: EX Trouble-shooting

Oh you must have a short memory.? I've always had issues with Crestron wireless stuff including your issue with 2 dimmers in the same box and one acquires and the other does not.? The big thing I found that works is just have the RF gateway on line and turn off all the other dimmers you already acquired.? If necessary, move the gateway near the dimmer temporarily.? And of course the most important thing is make sure you have control of all the nearby wireless access points and WiFi devices.? I've even seen wireless subwoofers cause WiFi issues on the entire WIFI band? If there are nearby neighbors that you cannot control their WiFi channels, look for an alternative lighting solution.

It makes sense to have the dimmers at 100% or 0% to avoid switching noise causing RFI.??? The lights themself may be generating RF interference.? If the lights are off, there is no interference.

Your dimmers may already be bricked and require an RMA.

...I don't remember issues like this 5-6+ years ago...

Sorry haven't been on here hectic lately hope I haven't slowed you down at a job.? Here is screen shot of setting for the project I did, the Crestron certified drivers is setup to load already in our system framework.? I hope this helps.? ?Also we had to update firmware on the NEO that was a big part as well.? I changed some of the numbers in the parameter field for security but it show what goes where.? Also don't forget it takes like 10 minutes before module starts working for some reason so you have to wait, when you load you won't just see it work immediately.? ?It will look like it doesn't work at first.

Re: EX Trouble-shooting

Unfortunately, you have to acquire the dimmer before you can update it!!...:)

RMC4 weird behaviour

Edited

Hi,

?

i?m just trying to replace an RMC3 with an RMC4. I did a small project with a planned RMC4, but since that didn?t arrive in time, the client got a RMC3 as a preliminary solution.

Now that the RMC4 arrived, I send it to the client.

He connected everything and the program I preloaded before sending out was running partly.

I did a couple of adjustments, but now the unit behaves weird.

I?m able to connect via Toolbox using EasyConfig and also the CLI. I can also connect via webfrontend.

However, the processor seems to have lost it?s program and i?m not able to reload it anymore.

Using the ¡°transfer¡± tool from SIMPl Windows, it gives me a ¡°The device doesn?t support the capabilities required by this dialog¡± error message.

Then I tried loading the program via webinterface. That works, I can see via CLI that the program gets loaded and is running, but I?m not able to connect via Toolbox to use SIMPL debugger.

?

I did a factory restore and get the same behaviour.

EDIT: One update: i loaded the program again via web-interface. Program load is successful, but status of the program says "stopped". Looking at the error log, the program seems to have loaded and running.
EC reports "unknown" for the program information and an empty IPTable...

?

Any ideas?

?

Thanks,

Thorsten

Re: EX Trouble-shooting

I might add there is a critical firmware that came out for the? CLW-DIMUEX that came out last month (v1.002.0006).? Make sure your? CLW-DIMUEX firmware is up to date.? According the the release notes, it you don't update, it can cause the dimmer to fail.? I also got a email from Crestron saying that you have to set the dimmer level to 100% before doing the firmware update.

That being said, I have seen issues in the past when going through a repeater dimmer prevents the dimmer from being acquired (particularly with the Horizon series).? Tried turning the air gap switch on all the other dimmers and make a direct connection to the RF gateway.

Only SIMPL, Never HOME!!...:)
there are only about 25 devices on the GW, but some of our issues are seen with the program disabled and the gateway powered down...

Re: Anyone noticing slowdowns/failures in loading to 4-series processors lately?

I?m experiencing the same issue with dropping debugger sessions.?
One CP4 was installed 2 years ago. I?m servicing this unit remotely via VPN connection and always had the VPN in mind as a possible cause. But it also happened when i was locally on-site recently.
For a second CP4 i?m currently doing the programming, it?s the same behaviour. I had it sitting in my lab for the initial programming with everything connect to the same LAN and now it?s installed at the client and i?m connecting to it via wifi.

Both have the same behaviour: debugging session drops between 2 minutes and 5 minutes. Sometimes it doesn?t even start after connecting.
Sometimes it just looks like it?s frozen and then all of a sudden feedback comes back.
One important thing: the connection itself does not drop - Toolbox status is always "connected". It?s just that the signals are not updated.
Another thing: trace and print statements continue to come through, just no signal updates.

Does anyone have recommendations for a 3rd party debugger? I wanted to give the C5 debugger a try, but since the trial version is limited to 5 minutes, that?s not sufficient to verify if it has the same issues or not.

Cheers,?
Thorsten

Re: EX Trouble-shooting

While I have an older metageek WiFi spy analyzer, I usually find the RF scanner built into the CEN-GWEXER usually is good enough.? Just open a console to the CEN-GWEXER and execute "SCAN".? It will show you the how much interference there is on each channel.

When I purchased my Metageek WiFiSpy, it was just $200.? But I really can't really recommend Metageek anymore mainly because it has become pretty expensive since their Chanalyzer software, which use to be included with the WiFi Spy, is now a subscription base model -- looking at their website, it looks like it has an annual fine of $500.? But I may be wrong about that so check it out yourself.? But I might add the noise floor on my WiFi Spy is about -90dBm which is not very good.? I've had a hard time even seeing EX traffic with it.

I rather spring for something like a Rigol DSA832E which is a 3.2GHz traditional spectrum analyzer with a -158 dBm noise floor for $1999 that doesn't require further payments down the road.?

Both the DSA832E and metageek are scanning spectrum analyzer so they may not catch short burst interference.? If you really want to catch interference, you need to go for a real time spectrum analyzer which are more expensive. Possible options are the Tektronix RSA306B or Keysight Fieldfox handheld spectrum analyzer.? But I could never justify spending that much money for something I would rarely use.

Simpl or Crestron home? How many devices on the gateway?

No, This is a house where certain old AND NEW dimmers will not acquire at all. And there there's the interactions with 2 dimmers in the same box - one works normally and when you turn the other one on, the first one starts cycling every 1-3 minutes...even without a program running and the GW disconnected...
There's another 2-gang with 2 brand new DIMUEX's doing the same thing and both would not acquire...

Re: DSC PowerSeries Neo

I've heard it's still a pain in the ass to integrate, and it's not a solid integration.? I have a client who has this in their house, and has wanted me to integrate it for months, but their security contractor can't seem to follow instructions and refuses to provide me any information other than the IP address of the DSC panel.? If I ever get the rest of the info, and get it to work, I'll let you know ?
