Maximum IR files on a port
What is the limit of IR files on a single IR port? There will only ever be a single IR controlled device on each port but it must be configurable at run time. The scenario is a fully configurable program, on the touch panel I can select from a list of IR controlled devices and assign them to any port, the problem is that you cannot dynamically load IR files so my SIMPL program has to have every possible IR file loaded into every possible port and then the program uses crosspoint to route the controls to the correct driver file. It has to run on 2 and 3 series processors so I don't have the option of S#. I'm currently up to 5 IR files on each IR port but expect to add many more devices as needed, I am wondering when I will hit the limit and what will happen once I hit the limit. Is it a memory limitation or does SIMPL stop letting me drop IR files onto the port? |
Re: Adding a new device to a project
Has the module been configured for both 2 and 3 series processors?

Adding a new device to a project
I have an old project I'm working on where I need to swap the AVR for a new Anthem serial-controlled model.? I have the .umc file and I copied it to the SIMPL/USRMACRO directory, but I can't get it to appear in the User Devices list, even after reloading the libraries from disk and rebuilding the database.
I confirmed that I'm using the correct directory for user modules. What am I missing? ?- Dave |

Crestron is aware of the symlib.tio error which has been around for several months now. Pretty sure it affects all windows versions. For me it happens on Win7 and simply closing Simpl and re-opening makes it go away.

Crestron & Mobotix SIP serwer
Can someone please help with some advice how to connect Crestron and Mobotix S14 using SIP serwer? I want to do this on iPad ( Crestron app) and on the mobotix camera model S14. On visualization Crestron ( iPad) I want to use the reserved join. I made the connection between Crestron and Mobotix in VoIP setting in Crestron app. So when I choose "dial" a have audio connection and I can speak. But on my vizualization, when I call on the mobotix camera, I don't have any notifications like the reserved join dont't work. I wonder why this is so that the connection between the application Crestron and MOBOTIX working but visualization did not respond to the call from the intercom. Do I have to create a user for Mobotix sip server and connect it to the iPad where the application is Crestron? |

Re: Read NVRAM File
To answer your question why "trace" is better than "print"...
Print is an older way of printing debug statements, and has been depreciated (although it still works). Trace is newer, and replaces print, and specifically used for debugging purposes.? The biggest advantage I'm aware of, is that it can be turned on/off with a simple pre-processor flag.? You can sprinkle "trace" statements all over in your program for devolopment, and use the flag "#ENABLE_TRACE" in the module header to make them active.? When you are done developing/testing the module, you can then turn off tracing, and the trace statements stop outputting (but are still in the code, so later you can turn them on if needed). This makes it fast and easy to stop debugging statements from getting outputted to debugger/console, and you don't have to go through and remove a bunch of individual print statements to get the trace output to stop. You could do something similar with print, but you would have to do it manually by using "If (iDebug) Then Print (...)" everywhere, where iDebug would be a constant in the program set to on/off.? This is how I've done debugging in the past and with other manufacturers, but the built-in Trace statement handles this easier and cleaner with the pre-processor flag. -jason |
