Re: Send RS232 Commands Through a Global Cache iTach Ethernet
You don't need anything fancy with the iTach serial devices.
All you need is a TCP/IP_Client with port set to 4999d and the correct IP address. Make sure you have setup the comm settings in the iTach Web UI to match the Samsung. Connect a SIO to the TCP/IP_Client TX$ & RX$. Load your program. Check the IP table in Toolbox and verify that it is showing the correct port & IP address. Place a 1 on connect on the TCP/IP_Client or your preferred connection logic and verify that Connect_F go high & status = 2d when connected. You should see the device go online in the IP Table as well. If you are certain that the commands you are sending are correct and it still does not work, then I would carry out a loopback test on the iTach by simply connecting pins 2 & 3 on the D9 sub connector. If you send a string to the TCP/IP_Client Tx$, you should see this come straight back in on Rx$. This will prove operation of the iTach. Once you have proved that much, then you can set about testing your RS-232 cable & then the commands on the Samsung. |
Send RS232 Commands Through a Global Cache iTach Ethernet
Hello,
I am trying to send RS232 commands through a Global Cache ITach Ethernet device to control a Samsung Frame television which unfortunately doesn't have a better way to take commands other than the remote. I've been able to communicate with the device and successfully send signals to the TV through the iTest utility, but making my SIMPL program do that seems to be more involved than my skill level. The Global Cache SERIAL_V1_3 logic symbol has a Serial_TX$ input and a Serial_RX$ output, but the commands I send it in debug don't seem to make it to the device. I think it's fair to assume that I may not have my formatting right for the hex command, but the program may also not be connecting to the iTach. It also has a Connect input which may be expecting a signal, but I haven't been able to find the right documentation from Global Cache to know what to do with that. In the program, I've given the logic the correct IP Address, but it specifically needs to connect to Serial 1 on port 4999 on the iTach to work. If you have made this work before, I would love your input and some guidance on how to proceed. If there are techniques I can use to troubleshoot, I'm very interested in expanding my knowledge.? Also, I'm open to the idea of switching to an infrared emitter and using captured remote commands if that would produce better results. The Samsung Frame TV can only handle a small subset of all Samsung RS232 commands, so there are some limitations the way I'm trying to solve this. Thanks! |
Re: VC4-PC3 / lost license multiple times with USB standalone dongle
This system was updated march of last year for this same issue.?
Seems that there is a newer firmware that fixes the issue. However, there is not a standalone firmware package to deploy to this unit to bring it up to date.? It is located in a secure room with no direct access to the internet.? As a temporary fix, Crestron reapplied the offline dongle license via the Unix console.? |
Re: Crosspoints and Propagating analog values
I had the exact same issue as the OP years ago and the solution after trying so many workarounds was using an AOS to enable an ABUF for the set level analogs in my lighting module wrapper. Got the idea From Oliver Hall here?/g/crestron/message/178725
The solution still works perfectly to this date. Had to dig back thru my notes as the original link was a yahoo groups link haha.? |
Re: VC4-PC3 / lost license multiple times with USB standalone dongle
So the offline license system needed to connect to the internet?? Something isn't adding up here... I'm not using the PC3 much, but I'm having a ton of problems with USB-OFFLINE dongles on VC4 running in VirtualBox.? Seems like a very fragile system. Re: Crosspoints and Propagating analog values
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGenerally speaking, unless something has changed that I'm not aware of, running lights through crosspoints can have some negative effects as the ramp control information of an analog is lost when running through crosspoints.?
This is especially problematic when you do an all x scene and the data has to go to the light and panel.?

EX Shades issues
Was at a client that was a take over.? MC4 running a 1 room system.? The system has 3 EX windows sheers.? I am having a host of issues.? But the main issues I see is that if I try and send all shades to open or close at the same time via a stepper with .1 delay, the shades don't always respond.? The bigger issue is that it seems to goof up their limits too.? These are the only EX shades that I have dealt with, so I don't know if this is a know issue with EX shades or if I should be looking for some thing else to be the issue.? All are connected via CEN-GWEXER on the latest firmware.? Shades have the latest firmware.? Motors are 163s and all have been replaced within the last 3 months.
