Re: two small conference rooms

My vote is for Barco Clickshare because it doesn't need a LAN connection (only if you want to) and avoids the issue of a residential client's internet going down. Plus it's only a one time payment!

Re: StarLeaf 5250 GTm Codec interfacing

Did you ever get this figured out?

We just recently did a deployment of 3 GTm 5250 codecs and are finding that in one room, the module works perfectly and allows the user to place audio and video calls using Teams. In the other 2 rooms, it allows you to make a call, but then immediately hangs up. The code for the other two rooms is identical to that of the first that is 100% working.?

Cannot seem to figure out what the issue could be. If you found anything out on your journey with this, I would love to hear!

Re: NVX Basic Config #crestron

Like Jeremy said, you just send analog values to the NVX Rx's that represent the transmitter index in the subscription list.? The index is similar to an input # on a normal DM at this point.? When I did this not long ago, I made all the subscription lists on the Rx's match, so all the transmitters were the same order, so you can treat the whole NVX system like a normal DM switcher, and the input numbers match across all the Rx's (which they don't have to, but logically, it's easier that way).

The subscription lists are created on the NVX itself, using the web setup interface.? IIRC, you can create the list on the first Rx, and then export that list, and import to other Rx's so you don't have to create them? from scratch on each Rx.? The subscription list was stupid easy to make, as the Rx already detects all the Tx's in the network, and shows them in a list, so all you have to do is add/remove them from the list and setup the order you want them in.

Re: nvx on fortinet switch

Yes I got them working, but only in standalone mode. They will be managed via FG, so hopefully that doesn't end up breaking things. I anticipate more trial and error when on site with the customer's gear.?

Note that the only media I'm passing around is NVX. After working with the Fortinet GUI and CLI I'm skeptical that I'd be able to also do, for instance, QLAN on the same VLAN.

We started using the FortiSwitches managed by the FG, and that seems to work great for our traditional VLANs.? Haven't tried to configure them for NVX though.

Re: Videostorm IRUSB

IRUBS Dongle

Videostorm IRUSB

Hi,
i?m working the in the residential / home cinema area and would like to integrate Amazon Fire-TV into Crestron.
I understood A dropped ADB-support and i came across the Videostorm IRUBS Dongle. It communicates via LAN with the control unit and sends keycodes via the USB-port to the FTV.
I ordered one for testing. In general it works (based on simple ASCII-commands via TCP client - i?m using a simple sio for that), but i?m experiencing hickups. The connect is dropping from time to time and then comes back. I need to look further into it.

By chance, does anyone have experience with the Videostorm IRUSB device? Or even a working Crestron module?
What i?ve read so far that the IRUSB device is reported to be rock solid, so i guess it?s an issue on my side.

Regards, Thorsten

Re: Zoom App

As an FYI, Native UI Control Buttons that Zoom announced in October go live today. I¡¯ve been playing with that beta to just leave folks in the Zoom app and pass other control as macros out to the processor to eliminate the app flip problem.?

Re: Zoom App

Here is an interesting method I have been working on to add room control with Zoom without doing any software to control Zoom. In this method I create a video window in my control program that displays the zoom PC and redirects mouse control to that PC. Home Theater would be another great application, since I can run HBO, Netflix and others on the application PC. This way I never have to worry about software updates. Although this was done in a PC application I should also be able to do it with DGX.

?

Here is a simple video demo of it.

A disclaimer, as I have only been working with client supplied PC/NUC that are setup to be a Zoom Appliance, not any of the Crestron Flex units.

The device extender in the TSW for 'App Control', which is supposed to let your program know if the Zoom app is open, DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK! I have informed True Blue about my experiences and am waiting for a fix, for a month now.

I tried to use this extender signal to illuminate the 'Home' button when the Zoom app was open to allow the user to close the app as the 'home' button is a toggle of the Zoom app when the app is enabled in the TSW, as Lincoln stated.?

The issue is the Zoom app can launch itself in many different ways and the device extender DOESN'T report the state properly, ie that the app is open on the interface.

The Zoom app will launch, so far as we know, unbeknownst to the program, if

  • the room is called and not answered/rejected, ring fb works app open does not.
  • if the network blips and app loses connection to the cloud.
  • the network blips and the panel, which has to be on the same network as the appliance, loses the network connection to the Zoom PC.
  • the zoom PC reboots.
  • the zoom PC goes offline.
  • the zoom app is closed on the PC, this one is sporadic for some reason

In all those instances the app launches on the interface and the device extender does not report it is open, which in my case meant the 'home' button didn't illuminate, which means you can't exit the app. Again my experiences with a client supplied Zoom PC not a Flex unit.

The suggested solution, which in my opinion isn't correct, is to leave the home button illuminated at all times, which we have done and added a laminated instruction card attached to the interface explaining what to do if they see the zoom app and want to do something else in the room, client loves us.

Good to hear Crestron came out with 3.02 firmware for the DM and that it
fixed your problem.? I had serious issues with every version of 3.01.X.

For some reason I couldn't get 3.01.38 to load correctly on several cards.

Now the new input cards work in any slot and my output cards are back to normal.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: NVX Video Wall

From what I've seen, portrait monitors don't actually expect a 1080x1920 signal -- they take a 1920x1080 signal and rotate it 90deg (no standard for which way to rotate, unfortunately).? What is the source for this array?? 5400x1920 is larger than 4K, but I'm not sure how you're splitting it up.? You may be able to convince the NVX units they're in a column of a landscape video wall rather than a row of a portrait video wall.? Or just drive it with 5 heads of a PC that can support that many outputs, or 5 Brightsigns synced.

Depending on the requirement I can think of a few solutions, e.g. a NVX receiver feeding a standard 16:9 image to a true video processor that can output the 5400x1920 resolution. It¡¯s also entirely possible that there¡¯s special firmware or undocumented commands for NVX that would allow a non-16:9 output from the internal scaler (note the D30 doesn¡¯t have a scaler so no support there at all); I am aware of some competitive products that allow you to specify the crop and output in terms of pixels ¨C but I¡¯m not sure if any of those also support rotation)

Hi All,

We have a video wall that we need to update.
The video wall has five Samsung displays mounted in portrait orientation.?
The effective resolution of the wall is 5400 wide by 1920 high.

Has anyone had any luck using NVX with portrait displays?
?According to Crestron's NVX-351 product page -
"Video Wall Processing
A video wall composed of up to 64 individual displays can be configured using multiple DM?NVX?35x(C) Series endpoints. Each endpoint provides fully adjustable zoom capability and bezel compensation to accommodate a range of video wall configurations and display types. One DM-NVX-35x(C) endpoint is required per display, supporting configurations of up to eight wide by eight high."

I think it might be possible, except there program modules appear to only support landscape resolutions for displays.

If anyone has tried something like this or found a work around, let me know.

Thanks,
