Re: How's it Working Series: TV Presets v2

Mine at home still doesn't work, as they still don't list Fios as a choice

Extra TSW-1070-WS

I have available a couple of NIB TSW-1070-W-S if anyone needs some.?

Primer for 4Series Modules #simplsharppro

1) are we still sandboxed if we're using SIMPL on a 4-series?
2) Is there a primer for developing 4-series modules tied to SIMPL code?

Thanks.

Re: OT - Proximity Sensor

Now that I'm not trying to type on my phone I wanted to follow up? a little more on the topic of RoomMe.

I wrote an article about RoomMe for Residential Tech Today a while back:

RoomMe sensors work well for providing room based occupancy sensing and the identification of which member(s) of a family are currently in a room.? As part of the article I wrote a Crestron driver for RoomMe that can be downloaded from my GitHub:

RoomMe sensors need to be placed on either side of each doorway in a home where you want to define occupancy.? The device senses as a person's smart phone moves between rooms.? Then, personalized lighting scenes can be triggered, a person's favorite music can be played, and even different thermostat settings can be triggered.? The device also takes care of prioritization between users when there are multiple people in a room.

A nice device when you really want to automate a home but, unfortunately, it won't work for the kind of sensing I need.

Thanks again

Re: Opening SMW Projects

I also find the Simpl instances moving around on the taskbar very annoying.

FYI, I used this utility a few years ago, which allows them to easily be rearranged - . I eventually uninstalled it because it seemed to be causing other issues (can't remember exactly what they were). However, I'm thinking of trying it again, and hoping whatever previous issues there were have been resolved.

Re: Opening SMW Projects

I have never heard this advice, and have always opened my projects by double clicking on the .smw file in the folder I'm working.? No issues that I can ever recall.

As someone else mentioned, I do often have 2-4 instances open, for copy/pasting from other projects, or making similar edits to multiple programs.? And yes, the instances move around on the toolbar so often that I often catch myself editing the wrong file if I'm not carefully paying attention and they move positions.

The only time I open a file manually from within Simpl using File:Open is if I already have extra instances open, and I want to open a different project.? It opens way faster if Simpl is already running, than if I close the instance I have and then restart up a new instance with the new file I want to start using.

Re: Opening SMW Projects

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Having project files located on any sort of network drive is probably where the recommendation came from.

?

I use a Mac and Parallels, with my files located on the mac.? I have different VMs with different versions of software/database/etc. on them, but each of them has my data drives mapped.? For example, my crestron databases are on the Mac desktop in a folder called Crestron, and in Windows I map the Q: drive to that folder.? I used ¡°map drive¡± in Win 7, (in Win10 I had to use SUBST from cmd prompt to do the mapping) but if I open a project file from the network folder ¨C even from the windows desktop - it opens with the full network path, not the mapped drive path and a compile will fail.? I also have simplwin, toolbox, and vtproe pinned to my windows task bar. ?So if I open the project either by right clicking on simplwin icon on the task bar and picking from recent files or launching simplwin and using file>open and browsing to the mapped drive then all is well.

?

BTW if someone knows a better method for this, please feel free to share.

Subject: [crestron] Opening SMW Projects

?

Hi All,
In the long-past, I would routinely open projects by 2x-clicking the .smw project file, which would start a new instance of SMW and open the project together.
At some point in the last few years, I had heard that this was no longer recommended, and we were supposed to always open a fresh instance of SMW and THEN browse/open the project from SMW.

This is a pain... what are other doing, and have any found that the 'new' method is really necessary??

TIA!

Re: SMW User Modules not showing up in the library

Another item to check, is to double check the "category" that the module is assigned to.? If an S+ module is set to category "0", the module will be hidden and not available in your library even though you have the correct files in the project directory.? Hope this helps.

Re: Clock Audio CDT-100 protocol

Not sure that it's fair to say the official module is unstable as it is currently running without issue in numerous systems. If you have any specific problems with the module, please reach out to us at CCI for support. We are always looking for opportunities to improve and fix any issues with our modules when they arise.

Just to be clear, the 4-series processors are much faster (and truly multithreaded which can open its own set of challenges for ¡®bad¡¯ programming)¡ but the speed of the CPU/RAM/etc. in the processor has nothing to do with the software tools running on your PC which are bound by the PC¡¯s CPU/RAM/thread prioritization/etc. (and it wouldn¡¯t surprise me if the 4-series compile is marginally slower than a 3-series compile on the same HW just because there¡¯s a little more to do, but I haven¡¯t benchmarked it.

[Edited Message Follows]

Cannot say I've notice any issue trying to open multiple instances of SIMPL -- even with the version of SIMPL that came out last month.? But instead of double clicking the SIMPL file to open it, I always open it by right clicking it and selecting Open.? And when task switching between SIMPL programs, I just hoover my mouse of the SIMPL icon on the task bar and select the program I want to switch to from there.

But the thing I have notice with the Series 4 and and the latest versions of Crestron software is it seems that things have gotten so Slow.? Compile times seem to be much longer and things just crash sometimes.? And I thought the series 4 processors where suppose to be so much quicker.? All I know is when I program a Series 2 or 3 nowadays, it seems to go so much quicker and smoother.? But I might add that when I program in Series 2 or 3 today, I use Crestron software from the early 2020 before the software could do a Series 4.? It is only when I program a Series 4 do I use the latest software.

One final note however is I do all my SIMPL/SIMPL+/VTPRO programming from a Windows 7 VM. So Windows 10 or 11 may be different. I only use a Windows 10 VM for SIMPL# as I highly doubt Visual Studio 2019 would work on Windows 7. Just don't like dealing with the bloat and constant updates with Window 10.? Of course I don't surt the Internet with Windows 7 (nor Windows 10 as that goes) and all my Windows VMs are destroyed after each use so any corruption that may occur gets wiped clean after a session.

YMMV

Re: QSC QSYS [LEVEL CONTROL]V5.0 not working properly

Hey gents, I've just been struggling with this issue myself and managed to get the V5.0 to ramp volume if I latch the "Initialize" input high as well as the "Poll Enable"

On-board Intel HD Graphics and Crestron HD-DA2-4K-E

We are experiencing an issue with HDCP and a very specific setup. We have a small form-factor PC connected to a Crestron HD-DA2-4K-E. Output 1 of the DA goes to a DMPS3-4K-150-C, output 2 of the DA goes to a 1080p monitor. The DM output is connected to the HDBaseT port on an Epson Pro series projector. This way, the local monitor always displays the PC regardless of what is selected on the DMPS.

For the most part, this setup works great for basic presentations, but things go a little haywire with HDCP content. When we start playing HDCP video, the image can be seen through the local monitor and projector. But when you stop the HDCP content, the projector switches to what can only be described as digital snow. The local monitor will sometimes go black, or sometimes it will continue to display the PC. We¡¯ve trace this to the DA and DMPS. Remove the DA, and the problem doesn¡¯t occur. Remove the DMPS, and the problem doesn¡¯t occur.

I¡¯ve tested this with several PC¡¯s and it only seems to happen with onboard Intel HD graphics chipsets. Switching to a PC with Nvidia or AMD Radeon graphics eliminates the issue. I would switch to a different PC if we didn¡¯t have 100+ rooms with this setup installed.

Restarting the DA resolves the problem, flipping the EDID switch resolves the problem.

Has anyone else seen this or have a recommendation for what we can do to remedy the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Qsc cameras with a USB io bridge seems to work well. And a core110f obviously...?
