First update in two years! (and perhaps the last one...)
They fixed the scaling issues with retina devices... |
Bosch DCNM Dicentis

Hey ppl of the interwebs I was wondering if any one has had any luck getting connected or getting information from a Bosch DCNM Dicentis system. I was hoping that the DCN module would work from the app store from Crestron but I haven't had any luck.?
Any help would make my day. Thanks!!! |
Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
Hi Oliver,
Thanks for providing the these insights. Is this discovery step a one time thing during initial setup or how often/when does this occur? Also, could you please let me know about this one from below:? The Ultimation spec sheets notes "Elapsed Time" and "Duration". Does anyone know if this applies also to the various streaming services, e.g. Netflix or Amazon Prime? Thanks much! |
Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
I got the HK to work well on RMC3¡¯s and CP3¡¯s running bit fw v1.5 and 1.6 (latest FW). However both processors randomly rebooted every few days for no reason other than HK was enabled on the processors. Once I turned off HK the processors were both stable again. I have left them of for now, and using CEC and IR. I have also used both Intrinsic and Ulta¡¯s modules and both currently work well.?

Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
Hi Waffles,
The issue with the 1.6xx firmware is that the Crestron OS is diverting the mDNS discovery responses away from client listeners (such as ours) so the module has difficulty learning the location of the Apple TVs.? With Media Remote, this *has* to happen via discovery (rather then simply pointing your processor at a static IP address) as the port number is dynamically allocated by the ATV. The behaviour is slightly different on router and non-router based 3-series processors - if you have a PRO3/CP3N, it won't work *at all*.? I you have a CP3, RMC3, MC3, DIN-AP3, etc. it *will* work when the Apple TV sends an unsolicited advertisement (which comes in a slightly differently to the normal discovery response) but this can take 5 mins+ to happen. It's important to note that this is JUST for discovery.? After discovery, the module communicates with the ATV over unicast which is unaffected by the OS. Another thing to note is, 4-series doesn't appear to have the same issue - though it's early days for the firmware here, so we're monitoring that carefully. The 3-series issue is being actively discussed with Crestron engineering, but there's no sign of a fix at present.? This issue shouldn't be affecting Crestron's "native" Apple Home Kit integration - in fact, it's that integration that introduced the problem for us (or, at least, it happened at the same time). All the best, Oliver (Ultamation) |
Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
I appreciate all the replies so far.
It seems I would need to downgrade the f/w on my CP3 to be able to properly demo the module. Hmm, not looking forward to this. So before I do this, could anyone maybe let me know a bit more about the feedback I can get? The Ultimation spec sheets notes "Elapsed Time" and "Duration". Does anyone know if this applies also to the various streaming services, e.g. Netflix or Amazon Prime? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI doubt the HD Fury will work.? We used them on several projects to send 4K signals to 1080P displays.? But the later versions of DM firmware blacklisted the HD Furys.? But we were using them on the display side instead. On 7/5/20 6:32 PM, Geoffrey Reynolds

It should be noted that Crestron DM doesn't allow Dolby Vision to pass, so if the display being used supports Dolby Vision, passing AppleTV 4K through a DM isn't ideal.? Something I haven't tried yet is using an HDFury device between the AppleTV and Crestron DM input to see if modifying the EDID might allow it to work, but I don't think that would be a great solution for anything other than personal use. I have tried out both the Ultamation and Intrinsic modules and both work just fine. Geoff On Sun, Jul 5, 2020 at 7:01 PM Steve Kuehn <steve@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks for the info.? Yes I am using the latest CP3 firmware (1.6+) which could explain why AppleTV HomeKit did not work for me.On 7/5/20 6:08 PM, waffles via

Both sites mention this issue:
There is currently a bug in Crestron processor firmware 1.601.x that prevents device discovery from working properly. Crestron are aware and until it is fixed we recommend that you remain on firmware 1.503. I wonder if this is the issue you were experiencing. |
Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
I was able to get the Apple HomeKit to work sporadically.? All of the devices would appear in the management app, but the connection would drop and things just didn't work correctly.
I see that Crestron still has this listed in the Resi section of the Upcoming Products, so hopefully there will be an AHK 2.0 that actually works. |
Re: Controlling Apple TV via IP - Any Recommendations/Suggestions for Modules or Built-Your-Own
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThere is also Crestron's AppleTV HomeKit however I haven't gotten it to work myself.? There is a Crestron bulletin that Apple broke the the Siri interface with an iOS update. However, it doesn't say it broken the non-Siri functions. There is also a Crestron CEC control module for the AppleTV4 if you are using a DM system and I did find it does work.? However, I didn't like the how the cursor keys worked so I use IR instead.? At least with IR, it is fairly unlikely it will break with an iOS update. On 7/5/20 5:43 PM, keith.gossen via

I've tried a few of the "free" ones and they're good until the next Apple update. I have used modules from both and been happy. Doesn't Intrinsic offer a free module for integrators?? Thought they did so you could check it out.? |
