Re: QSC QSYS [LEVEL CONTROL]V5.0 not working properly

Hey gents, I've just been struggling with this issue myself and managed to get the V5.0 to ramp volume if I latch the "Initialize" input high as well as the "Poll Enable"

On-board Intel HD Graphics and Crestron HD-DA2-4K-E

We are experiencing an issue with HDCP and a very specific setup. We have a small form-factor PC connected to a Crestron HD-DA2-4K-E. Output 1 of the DA goes to a DMPS3-4K-150-C, output 2 of the DA goes to a 1080p monitor. The DM output is connected to the HDBaseT port on an Epson Pro series projector. This way, the local monitor always displays the PC regardless of what is selected on the DMPS.

For the most part, this setup works great for basic presentations, but things go a little haywire with HDCP content. When we start playing HDCP video, the image can be seen through the local monitor and projector. But when you stop the HDCP content, the projector switches to what can only be described as digital snow. The local monitor will sometimes go black, or sometimes it will continue to display the PC. We¡¯ve trace this to the DA and DMPS. Remove the DA, and the problem doesn¡¯t occur. Remove the DMPS, and the problem doesn¡¯t occur.

I¡¯ve tested this with several PC¡¯s and it only seems to happen with onboard Intel HD graphics chipsets. Switching to a PC with Nvidia or AMD Radeon graphics eliminates the issue. I would switch to a different PC if we didn¡¯t have 100+ rooms with this setup installed.

Restarting the DA resolves the problem, flipping the EDID switch resolves the problem.

Has anyone else seen this or have a recommendation for what we can do to remedy the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Qsc cameras with a USB io bridge seems to work well. And a core110f obviously...?

Re: Opening SMW Projects

Edited

Cannot say I've notice any issue trying to open multiple instances of SIMPL -- even with the version of SIMPL that came out last month.? But instead of double clicking the SIMPL file to open it, I always open it by right clicking it and selecting Open.? And when task switching between SIMPL programs, I just hoover my mouse of the SIMPL icon on the task bar and select the program I want to switch to from there.

But the thing I have notice with the Series 4 and and the latest versions of Crestron software is it seems that things have gotten so Slow.? Compile times seem to be much longer and things just crash sometimes.? And I thought the series 4 processors where suppose to be so much quicker.? All I know is when I program a Series 2 or 3 nowadays, it seems to go so much quicker and smoother.? But I might add that when I program in Series 2 or 3 today, I use Crestron software from the early 2020 before the software could do a Series 4.? It is only when I program a Series 4 do I use the latest software.

One final note however is I do all my SIMPL/SIMPL+/VTPRO programming from a Windows 7 VM. So Windows 10 or 11 may be different. I only use a Windows 10 VM for SIMPL# as I highly doubt Visual Studio 2019 would work on Windows 7. Just don't like dealing with the bloat and constant updates with Window 10.? Of course I don't surt the Internet with Windows 7 (nor Windows 10 as that goes) and all my Windows VMs are destroyed after each use so any corruption that may occur gets wiped clean after a session.

YMMV

Boy, do I agree with this!!? A Total PITA!!? none of my other programs do this...:(

Re: Opening SMW Projects

Chris,

When I start programming, I instinctively start 3 instances of Simpl Windows.
One is for my main program, and the other 2 for auxiliary programs or module edits.

I have never heard that advice and virtually always launch SIMPL via the file (double clicking the SMW, using the arrow keys to highlight the SMW and pressing enter, or using the ¡°Open SMW¡± function of our internal source management tool).

Subject: [crestron] Opening SMW Projects

?

Hi All,
In the long-past, I would routinely open projects by 2x-clicking the .smw project file, which would start a new instance of SMW and open the project together.
At some point in the last few years, I had heard that this was no longer recommended, and we were supposed to always open a fresh instance of SMW and THEN browse/open the project from SMW.

This is a pain... what are other doing, and have any found that the 'new' method is really necessary??

TIA!

Re: USB 3.0 Camera splitting/routing options? #usb

I have used Icron Raven USB 3.0 extenders and most recently the Inogeni Toggle USB 3.0 switcher which has RS-232 control.
USB 3.0 switching and extending still seem relatively new so there are not a lot of products and they can be quirky.

Try configuring in Studio or using Engraver

Re: NVX-363 resolutions #nvx

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Speaking about interlaced sources does anyone know if nvx always deinterlaces prior to encoding? ??

Or is there a way to output an interlaced stream when subscribed to an interlaced source so that your target device can do the deinterlacing ?instead of nvx doing the deinterlacing ??

I'm assuming when you say 1080i 50Hz, that's the field rate, and you really mean a 25 Hz frame rate. And yes, the NVX-363 input will support that.

USB 3.0 Camera splitting/routing options? #usb

I'm hoping some of y'all have found a solution to this seemingly simple problem.? With the increasing prevalence of USB 3.0 only cameras to UC *and* BYOD destination requirements, have any of y'all found a way to route or split a USB3.0 Camera video signal without breaking out to HDMI? I have a customer with a small room with a USB camera, UC engine and want BYOD also. I know USB isn't built to be "split" to two destinations but that's what we need to do, preferably w/o HDMI or other adapters.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks again Andy.? I found the properties.

My mistake was looking at the HttpClientRequest properties instead of the HttpClient.

Re: SMW User Modules not showing up in the library

Another, "I don't know why it works, but sometimes it does" thing to try is deleting the SPlsWork subfolder in your program folder.?

I've had the same thing, where I've double-checked all targets, recompiled all, etc. and it didn't work until I closed the program, deleted the SPlsWork folder, reopened and Recompiled ALL (Alt+F12). It doesn't fix other problems (nesting, wrong target, etc.), but sometimes when nothing else makes sense it works.

Another "This shouldn't fix anything, but sometimes it does" is just rename the program, save it to another folder and start again in a "fresh place", copy/paste in any needed modules, etc and Recompile ALL again

Final item that shouldn't work, but has saved me a few times is replacing the processor in the program: If you have a Pro3, replace with AV3, save, replace back to Pro3, save, recompile all.? Again, this *shouldn't* fix anything, but it has for me when nothing else made sense. Double-check the program it didn't add anything helpful during the replace like a CEN-IO to make up for port differences.??

I think those are all the secret handshakes I remember.

Good luck,
Micah Thurlow

Re: S# http Request Timeout

Thanks Andy!

I looked at the S# documentation and didn¡¯t see that. I¡¯ll take another look.?

Thanks again?

Re: off the topic of Crestron - Dell docking station

I have an Alienware laptop and use a WD19TB docking station.? In my case I run dual 4K monitors, use the ethernet and every USB port on it.

I bought 2 units off eBay at a tremendous discount off?retail price.? They are both working flawlessly.

It supports up to 130 watt charging which, unfortunately, is not enough for my laptop.? I have to use the gargantuan power supply.? I suspect most laptops would be fine with 130w charging and would be a single cable solution.

Anyone using Dell with a docking station? If so, which model are you using?
