Re: DIN range - why didn't they...

What would your hypothetical product offer over the DIN-8SW8?

DIN range - why didn't they...

...ever produce a DIN-RLY8?

Yes I know we have the SW8's and the AO8 (that can be used at a stretch) but both these are way OTT for a simple contact closure.
My main house DIN cabinet could really do with some more dry contact relays, also I'd like some in the garage too.
4 relays on a DIN-AP4 just does not cut it Crestron.

Looks like I'm gonna have to break out another raspberry pi.

Re: Crestron integration with forbes & lomax keypads #simpl

GLS-SIM and the Forbes and Lomax "0-10v" rotary dimmers do NOT work together. Been there tried that. F&L admitted that it's not really 0-10v, when pressed. It's not just a simple potentiometer with the 3 wires brought out. It's only 2 wires with some electronics inside. I could never get them to reveal what was going on inside. They just said "it works with Lutron".

Re: Content Player

I have the network upload part done.? I've built a project that I think is correct, but I know that I missing something as it doesn't seem to work.? Like I said it is a first stab and was hoping that someone may have a working simpl and BS project that I could compare to.

If you provision the player(s) on BSN.cloud which is free, you can perform file actions as well as other functions through there.

?hi John,?

You can set up an interactive presentation such that playback of specific content is triggered when Brightsign received a UDP message from Crestron and when playback starts or completes, you can configure Brightsign to send a UDP feedback msg that you can use within Crestron.?

I have implemented such in the past. Let me know if you need further info.?

You can also configure the Brightsign unit to cater for network uploads and avoid having to physically load files on the SD card.?

Re: Infratech patio Heaters

For the control side, you just send the Home Management System a 0-10V signal, and that is it.? (0V=Off, 5V=50%, 10V=100%)
They should be doing everything else.? There shouldn't be anything else connected to the Crestron equipment.
All of the heaters that are compatible with the Home Management System are 240V.? So, it sounds like they have something wired incorrectly.
It's worth noting that the little 120V heaters (Infratech only makes a couple) are not compatible with the Home Management System.

I'm not sure what relay you're referencing in the Infratech panel.? RGC1P48V42ED???
This is what controls one leg of the 240V line to the heaters.
It should be connected to the Crestron 0-10V through the built-in connection block.
Also, there should be a 24VDC input from the built-in AC/DC power supply.? This supplies power to the RGC1P module.
Finally, there the in and out for one of the 240V heater legs.

Good luck,
Brian

Re: Infratech patio Heaters

Thanks for the reply we do have that unit I get 10 v coming from the Crestron dimmer. However the heater only gets 70v max. Any thoughts on that> I also see they provide a contact closure from the infratech panel. What do you use that for ? Thanks

Re: Dish Network

Does this also apply to the dish wally device? I have to control one of these for a client and I have never used the product. Does it have IP control? There is a CCD package on the Crestron IO site but wanted to make sure to see if it works or not.

Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today

My latest article, "How Sensibo Pure Manages Whole House Indoor Air Quality¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site.

The article is a hands on review of the new Sensibo Pure air purifier and for Crestron programmers the article includes a link to a free Crestron integration module that can be downloaded from my Github.

You can find the article here:

Re: Content Player

So we have a brightsign script for audio playback.? It works great, but the down side is that you have to physically pull the SD card to load new audio files.? So I am playing with BS Author and can't seem to find a help file or video that directly pertains to what I would like have it do.? ?Which is to make a UDP call for an audio file and then get a response when it completes.? This is how the script works.

1.? Pulse SIO to UPD/IP com? Play Sound
2.? Receive UPD message that Play Sound is complete

Does anyone have an example Crestron simpl and the paired BS project that I can look at?

Usually, there's a minimum acceptable amount of header info that products require and finding that can be time consuming. ?The process of stripping something down to its barest essence is called Muntzing. It's some good geeky early A/V history actually, I have my grandfathers Muntz 8-Track in my office for inspiration. ?

similar to the C2N-UNI8IO is the GLS-SIM, which has two 0-10 inputs on it which could go behind the rotary dimmer.

Re: Home appliances integration with Crestron? #crestron

In my house I monitor my "dumb" washer and dryer. For the washer it has a light that comes on when it is done- I just use a photocell light sensor taped over that. And the dryer is gas fired so I use an old Crestron ST-CS since it is below the 10 amps max. Works perfect for telling me things are done.??

Re: Simpl compiled zipped file is missing sgd

Well that reassuring because none of us use crosspoints haha <rolleyes>. Been using them forever and this issue didnt always happen so as usual we have another bug being introduced with an update...

Re: Has Anyone controlled an (Australian) Foxtel Now Box over IP?

I have controlled one with an irUSB (from videostorm). It was a fair while back and from memory we had to side load the app. Personaly I prefer the IP option but I assume Flirc would also work.

Re: Crestron integration with forbes & lomax keypads #simpl

Hi Javier,

As Brian said, since Forbes & Lomax are Contact Closure devices you can use C2N-UNI8IO to get the CC from the Buttons.
For the Rotary button, you will have to select the 0-10V model connected to DIN-IO8 which could be quite expensive.

Re: Crestron integration with forbes & lomax keypads #simpl

Javier,

I believe that the Forbes & Lomax devices are simple contact closure.
So, the short answer would be yes, but this wouldn't include their rotary dimmers.
Also, I would be sure to mention to the client / designer that no visible feedback would be provided on the keypads.

Good luck,
Brian
