Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

if you have to keep the director, you could just use it for system management and troubleshooting, but not use it for switching -handle switching within the processors that need it.

Re: Extra long throw projector recommendation

Whatever you do, pay special attention to what the projectors is supported with. At that ratio, very small movements will cause noticeable shake in the image. Door closings, footfalls above, HVAC vibration.

Re: 232 string capture #crestron

Back in 2003, I also had the same need as this, so I wrote some custom windows software that I used all the time for this kind of thing (as well as string testing).? Was very handy as an internal tool.? One feature let you connect your PC in-line between 2 com ports and let the 2 devices talk normally to each other while you acted as a MITM, and could see both sides of the conversation.? You could also then send commands to one device or the other while you were MITM.

Software worked great, but it was written as a 32bit app, and I never kept it updated or ported it to 64bit when PC's and OS's all went to 64bit.? So it's now sort of defunct.

Re: Dell C7520QT

I haven't used the C7520QT, but we just installed a 7017T in a classroom. Aside from having to use hex strings and calculate checksums, integrating it wasn't so bad. The hex strings for the 7520 are different from the 7017T, which may indicate a different OEM and thus different behaviors. The 7017T will let you send commands (like polling) when the display is turned off.

In all, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the 7017T worked. Pen actions were surprisingly accurate. Slightly faster than a last-gen SMART Board. We will have to be on our guard with the newer interactive models, it seems.

Dell C7520QT

Hi All,

Has anyone controlled a?Dell C7520QT over rs232 before?

I had some experience with one yesterday. After much time spent on it...I realised only the power command can be sent to the device when it is Off or in Standby.

The respnose from the Displays seem very slow.

If anyone has used them before I'd love to hear your experience on them

Re: Cannot access settings menu of Crestron mobile on Samsung Tablet or Phone

With the app running in the background, swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the notification menu items.? From there you can tap for more settings.??

Re: 232 string capture #crestron

I created a SIMPL COM Port program for this reason. Loaded it up to a spare slot in my Test MC3 and use it to change Com port baud rates etc on the fly whilst capturing RS232 codes.
From memory select Options/Preferences/Program Editing and tick Special under? Symbol Set.
Add Speedkey: comspec.usp to Logic
Add Device Extender : Packet Transmission to you Com Port Slot
Add Device Extender :?Com port information to the Com port you are testing (though I think it still doesn't work currently (for feedback of settings changed)
Feed Serial output of comspec.usp to Packet Transmission.

ATEN VE8900 Crestron Control #crestron

Hi All,?

Has anyone ever tried to communicate and control ATEN VE8900 to any crestron processors??

I'm using TCP-IP Client and port 23 via telnet and port 9138 via TCP.?

Any ideas/or suggestions will be highly appreciated.?

Thanks in advance.?

Regards

Crestron and VTiger CRM

Just curious if anyone has created a module to communicate with their CRM for automatic case creation on specific errors or system reboots.?

I am using VTiger and would love to be able to have service cases created? on error log events/ reboots

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I have one system with 40 TSW-730s, 2 DGE-2s, 3 DM-DGE-100s, and 3 DM-DGE-200-Cs, and a couple (classic) XPanels on one processor and a couple other projects with probably a similar number of total panels. It¡¯s been running with incremental changes since 2013 or thereabouts.

?

The problem is not necessarily the total number of panels but the traffic to/from each panel

Subject: [crestron] Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

?

Guys,

?

What is the most number of TSW series touch panels you have ever installed on a single three-series processor and how well did it work (no streaming video, just basic buttons and such)?

?

Does anybody think it would be unreasonable to install 200 TSW-760¡¯s on a PRO3 for example?

?

Based on available IP ID¡¯s, I assume you could theoretically have up to 223 touch panels, correct?

?

Thanks

Re: TST-902 Roaming

I haven't had the issues, until just recently, and only with one system, but it's pretty bad when it happens.

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

Edited

After talking with another co-worker, I'm changing my stance on the director.? If you leave the director out, then you should be able to manage the streams independently of it in each processor, and that would help eliminate a single weak point in the system.? So, basically, each processor would handle the TSW panels and NVX endpoints for the rooms on that processor.? Make sense?

Re: Tascam players

The CD-500 protocol is very similar to the CD-400, and includes jog and shuttle as commands 15 & 16 respectively.? Both of these can be forward or reverse.

The CD-400 protocol I found is for v.1.03, and the latest firmware is v.1.11.? Maybe Tascam added jog & shuttle between 1.03 & 1.11. It's worth a few minutes to test them and find out if they are implemented.

See page 6-8:?

Good luck!
Marty

Re: TST-902 Roaming

I've not had problems with this before, but if port forwarding is done, it def needs to have the crestron DDNS, but I agree I have heard these security concerns as of late...

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

The director will speed up programming, and make things easier, as long as you aren't trying to do anything crazy.? If the design demands a single processor, then I would pass on it, personally.

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yeah, not a bad idea Steve. This system will also incorporate an NVX Director-160. Any thoughts about that? BTW, this is something that is out for bid, not something we are designing, so my hands may be a bit tied regarding design changes. Mainly just want to be sure this won¡¯t be an unworkable cluster-you-know-what.

Re: TST-902 Roaming

Port forwarding is not recommended, especially with the recent attacks on the CIP port.? I think the best course of action would be to find out why the Wi-Fi is so bad and get it fixed.

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

IMO, it would make more sense to split the classrooms into groups of 25 - 50 per processor, put the NVX program on it's own processor, and then connect them all via EIC.? That way, if something happens to one of the processors, you would just lose that bank of rooms, rather than every room in the entire school.? This would make programming go faster, too, because each bank of rooms could share the same IP-ID assignments for the TSW panels since they will be pointing at a unique processor.

Re: Maximum Number of TSW Touch Panels

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

While I was waiting to see what experiences members of this group might have had, I contacted TB support. They recommended 150 as the practical limit. They stated the real limiting factor was the number of open TCP/IP sockets to the processor, rather than IP ID¡¯s.

?

Still curious if anybody has installed say, 100 touch panels or even 50. How well did it work?

?

The contemplated use is a large NVX system for a high school with about 100 classrooms and a touch panel in each, but only one control processor.

Re: TST-902 Roaming

You should get an Ipad (samsung tablets work well too) with LTE enabled, or they probably have one if they can afford a Crestron system. Then port forward all the needed ports and set it up with mycrestron ddns, and it will roam over LTE when WiFi does not work. Otherwise you will be stuck with a 902 that can only work in range of the individual gateway. However, if the WiFi is getting bogged down due to connected devices, thats another topic. But again, the 902 is not worth the fight...in my opinion
